Dear members,

I received two old watches from my deceased grandfather who bought them in the sixties, presumably. Now I'm looking for information about the manufacturers as well as the used movements.
Also, I'd be thankful for suggestions wheater a refurbishing is recommendable or not. They have alarm functionality: when the hour hand reaches the position of the small hand, the clocks whirr. It sounds strange -- like an early form of vibration alarm used by today's smartphones... b-)

Both of them were not worn for the last 30 years. I winded them up carefully and both of them seem to work well. I did not check if they hold the time.

Attached to this post, you can find some photos of them. I not trust myself to open them appropriately, so I cannot offer you photos of the movements. Sorry.

1[SUP]st[/SUP] watch: ARSA (Auguste Reymond?) Precision alertic. Diameter: 35mm
4 Hands: Hour, minute, second, alarm indicator. Date field.
Backside inscription: "Swiss made - waterproof - stainless steel back - antimagnetic - incabloc". Serial number: 42789.

2[SUP]nd[/SUP] watch: Golana Alertic. Diameter: 34mm
Dial: Golana Alertic Shockproof 21 Jewels. Hands just like above. Date field.
Backside reads as "Stainless steel back - Swiss made - waterproof - shock protected - antimagnetic".

Thanks a lot for your effort.

Cheers,
Gundahar

I really like the look of that Golana watch. I would be drawn towards getting it serviced, but I might first ask the watchmaker what he thought about the watch after having a look at the movement. It has a very striking appearance, but I don't know anything about that brand, and without any information about the movement, it would be hard to make a guess as to the quality of the watch.

I'm sure someone here probably knows something about these watches, or can find a bit of information eventually. :)

Hey guys,

thank you very much for your effort! So you suggest to show them to a watchmaker anyway, and he can give me further information if they are worth serving after he has seen the movements?

Best,
Gundahar
