If I want to maximize the budget, a used GS 9f.

For a bit less and probably a better GADA in some respects, Sinn 556

And for even less so you can pocket some change and maybe add something else, a full metal square G Shock or Casio Oceanus.

Can maybe find an Aqua Terra 2503 for about $2k, which would be my choice edging out the Black Bay 41, because of the date if this is going to be my only watch.

Do I still get an activity watch like a Garmin? If not, I'm forced to go with that.

But if I can get away with that technicality I'd go with a Doxa Sub Professional. I don't do formal events all that often, and the Doxa has been my long standing favorite. It works in every situation I'd reasonably find myself in.

Sinn 836 on bracelet is $50 over, and that's close enough for government work. I have zero need for a watch more formal than that.

Been toying with this question for the past few months actually. Today I've settled on the SBGN005. Ask me again tomorrow 😅

Under $2K is a tough window for me. I would either go Speedy Reduced 3510 or an old Bond SMP. May have to go quartz to stay on budget.
