I'm amazed by this watch

Just arrived today - a Citizen Eco Drive One. Measures ~3mm thick - feels like I'm not wearing a watch at all. The dial is really amazing - looks completely different depending upon how the lighting in the room is (from a flat & dull finish, to a highly textured finish, to then a sparkling finish). The bezel is Cermet (mixture of ceramic and metal) to provide the necessary hardness to keep the thin watch durable.

The 8826 movement itself is 85 parts, 1mm thick, solar powered (eco-drive), and hand-assembled. Hands are dual finished (brushed one side, polished the other) to increase legibility in all lighting conditions. Alternating applied indices. Stainless steel parts (including bracelet) are all Duratec coated.

Anyways, enough talk - here's the watch. It's definitely a keeper (and a sleeper-hit, if I do say so myself).

If you wanna see something cool, reflect the dial on a surface to see the photovoltaic cells and the electrodes, though I don't know if that would work with yours.

Very cool.

I think it would feel kinda wired having something THAT thin against your wrist.

The Stilettos were pushing that concept at 5mm but that is next-level.

Makes me wonder how thick the battery is?
Doubtful there is anything particularly special about the battery thickness. Titan has been making quartz watches that are 2mm thick, cased (so 1mm thinner than this, though not solar powered) for over 2 decades now that use easily available button cells.

Wow. Very cool. The dial is really neat. And the watch is incredibly thin... holy crap.

I honestly don't know I would feel wearing a watch that thin. I have grown to appreciate the bulk and heft of my watch, and it feels reassuring to me feeling it on my wrist.

Something else I noticed is that you appear to wear your watch way tighter than I wear mine. I allow for a little bit of play, and wear my bracelet relatively loose. I can tighted up the quick adjust to remove all the extra room so the watch doesn't move, but I rarely wear it like that.

Congratulations! Very nice addition to your fleet! I was at a Citizen store a few weeks ago and saw one. They are not inexpensive, so I know you are a serious watch person when you got this. I couldn't justify the price at the time, since I was only weeks away from retirement and had other higher priority things on my bucket list.

Yeah, the Eco Drive Ones are amazing. Got one of the first models released. Hadn't seen this one; I quite like it, the dial is lively.

With these, actually, titanium can make it too light. Mine has a cermet bezel...not something they do any more. it's on leather, and it's soooo light I regularly forget I have a watch on.

I'd go with the small seconds version now...it's a tad thicker, but heck, 4.5 mm total is still super-thin. It's not critical; 2-handers don't really encourage going all OCD about precisely setting them, and that is actually liberating.

Cool watch. I'd love to see one in person, although Citizen doesn't sell them here.

I've seen the Bulgari and the photo one member posted comparing it to ther Octo Finissimo is mind blowing considering how thin the Bulgari is!

Remarkable design, props to Citizen on their technical prowess in the Eco Drive One. I own a Stiletto tank, when I handle it I smile, finding it's elegant design and slimness very satisfying. I too agree Citizen continues to up it's game w/ novel technology and enjoyable designs.
