Important: Confusion about the Laco Baumuster A project

Guys,

I admit to being confused about the current state of affairs with respect to Laco and their next B-Uhr project.

Leaving such issues as the caseback of the fifty Baumuster B LE watches and the blued hands project aside - what exactly is the official (i.e. what Laco have communicated) state of affairs concerning:

- a possible unlimited edition of the Baumuster B watch ?
- a possible limited/unlimited edition of a Baumuster A watch?
- if the latter, will that be in addition or instead of the unlimited Baumuster B?
- will a first run of 50 pieces of a Baumuster A series be sold exclusively through Laco, or will the Pil-Mil forum members have a chance to reserve watches?
- if the latter, how is the reservation process set up?
- are Laco in contact with anyone (frank_be, to be precise) re running the dial and hands of a Baumuster A through a similarly refined process as was done for Baumuster B?

Please note that this is an administrative thread which is devoted solely to collating official information which members have received from Laco, or information helping to answer the questions.

Please post any comments, desires, displeasures in the other threads. Any posts in this thread not answering the above questions, or pointing out other unclear issues, will be erased.

Hi Martin,

I think it is best to email Laco directly but I will try to answer your questions to the best of my understanding.

1) Laco has already ordered 50 cases like ours therefore they have to do something about it.

2) I believe they have temporarily suspended the unlimited typeB dial (it was due to the 50 cases I believe that they have already ordered)

3) They planned on using the 50 cases for a TypeA limited edition instead to be sold outside of WUS

4) Our Laco TypeA WUS thread is merely trying to get 50 guys as what Peter has suggested.

5) The 50pcs limited edition typeA will not be solely made for us. They will sell it direct to anyone.

6) Laco is willing to make another TypeA, TypeB or whatever we wish and they are happy to accomodate us again (outside the limited edition TypeA -50pcs).

7) From my understanding the new TypeA LE will have a finished movement and display back which I believe non of us may be interested.

* All answers may not be 100%.

Martin,

I am glad you created a new thread to clear up some confusion.

- a possible unlimited edition of the Baumuster B watch ?
No plans yet, the movements purchased for this project are now being used to begin a new Baumuster A project.

- a possible limited/unlimited edition of a Baumuster A watch?
Yes, a special edition of Baumuster A watch but not just for WUS members only since there was no official answer from WUS moderators or owner to approve the project. Laco is willing to promote this on its own.

- if the latter, will that be in addition or instead of the unlimited Baumuster B?
It is only special edition for now.

- will a first run of 50 pieces of a Baumuster A series be sold exclusively through Laco, or will the Pil-Mil forum members have a chance to reserve watches?
Yes, the special edition of Baumuster A will be sold exclusively through Laco. Ofcourse, Pil-Mil forum members can always email Laco [email protected] and will receive priority.

- if the latter, how is the reservation process set up?
Laco will be emailing the details of the Baumuster A project in their newletter to all their customers and potential customers. The newletter will specify ordering process. However, as stated above, if you are interested in this project please email Laco.

- are Laco in contact with anyone (frank_be, to be precise) re running the dial and hands of a Baumuster A through a similarly refined process as was done for Baumuster B?
I do not know the answer to this but I am sure all of us will strongly suggest to Mr. Pfeiffer to follow the same path of dial design in the capable hands of Frank_be. I will email Laco today and have an answer a bit later.

Cheers,
Bhanu

Thanks for clearing this up, guys.

So is there any one among the members who would offer their services to communicate with Laco to explore the possibility of making the 50-piece-series of the Baumuster A an official Pil-Mil project, and make sure that dial and hands go throiugh the frank_be process?
Bhanu has agreed to volunteer for this project. He's the man! :-! I would trust that Bhanu will deliver again as he has done in the past. We need the right dial, hands and caseback engraving for the TypeA with the help of Frank_be (mind you it doesnt have to be limited edition this time around if we wish Laco to freely replicate it).

Thanks for clearing this up, guys.

Hi all,

yesterday I spoke to Peter Pfeiffer in order to get a reservation for the forthcoming watch.
He said, that LACO will

- use an original handwound ETA 2801

- be in contact with Frank_be to send him some pics of original typ "A" dials

- have to purchase new hands for the new dial too

- email all owners of the type "B" watch, if they are interested in a type "A" watch

Perhaps it's a chance for saving money when ordering this new watch: The blued steel hands for the type "B" could be sent together with the watch and there are no additional shipping costs,;-) (that is an idea to explain to my wifeb-)).

I would be glad if Bhanu or Frank will organize the new creation.

Many thanks in advance,

Volker

Ernie has just given me the o.k., so if Bhanu and Frank would sort out who will be the project manager for the baumuster A watch, we can proceed to negotiate with Laco as the Watchuseek Pil-Mil forum. :)
I'm in for the dial and the form of the hands. Mr. Pfeiffer allready sent me a good picture from which I can start from. Only point now is that I won't have the time to do it right now. I'm very busy at the moment so you guys will have to wait another +-4 weeks.

Greetings,
Frank

PS: The blued hands design from the baumuster B however is actully finished, so that won't take that long anymore.
What about the Baumuster A hands Frank? Are we modifying that too?

We will wait 4 weeks if we have to Frank! No problems for me there!
Frank_be and Mr. Pfeiffer have both communicated with me :-!

It will be my pleasure to serve the forum members for this project :)

As Frank_be is busy currently, Mr. Pfeiffer is ordering the parts and preparing the exact feature list for communication.

Once I receive the feature list (this will address blue hands), I will create a new thread with official Baumuster A project. This will happen hopefully by end of next week.

Cheers,
Bhanu

That's the beauty of the forum watch....we get to replicate the original design of the Baumuster A dial :-!

Please keep checking the discussion thread for Baumuster A as forum members will post their original 55mm watch pics and Frank _be will convert dial to 42mm.

Rest of the watch will be very similar to the Baumuster B. You can see several pics of that watch on the forum.

Cheers,
Bhanu
