Re: Incoming - Casio G-Shock DW-5600E - my first Casio in over 10 years

Thanks! I have just realised that my title is not quite correct; it is my first G-Shock in over 10 years, not my first Casio in over 10 years. I purchased that Casio Calculator Watch last year.

Congrats! Looks great with your collection!

Great basic model! Great shape and size! NASA-approved model, and used in the army and other services! Congratulations from the purchase!

BTW, they are great (much greater) with an adjust button mod (replacing it with the same size as a B, C, and D button.
Especially if you like setting the timer, alarm, resetting the stop watch/split time (with any sort of accuracy), the long button mod is a must imho.

BEFORE (are you kidding me...):

AFTER (now it's functional, and still no accidental presses, ever):

Thank you! Not sure that I shall wear it more than my other Watches, but it will definitely get a fair bit of wear.

Nice pair of DW-5600E's! Nice mod, too!

Nice, dobber72! I have not replaced the battery in my blue, old, G-Shock. It must be easily nearly 10 years since. What are the chances that it might work, if I replace the battery in it?

It should work, don't forget to short between the AC and battery and it should spring back to life.

Thank you very much. I shall go to my watch guy to ask him to replace the battery and try to spring it back to life!

That looks very nice. What search terms did you use? I could use a bracelet on mine I think.

I've searched for "long button mod" and am not seeing a link to a how-to for this.

How does one perform the long button mod?

Thanks to all in advance.

How does one perform the long button mod?
The A-button (top left) is a shorter button, which is why it's recessed. The other three B, C, and D are all the longer ones. So you need a 4th longer one to swap with the short A-button.
You need to remove the module and carefully take the e-ring off of the button. These are some tiny parts, I hope your vision is near-sided. Careful with the E-ring, they have the tendency to go on indefinite adventures of unknown whereabouts.
