While looking over the Bay for watches, I came across a nice Universal Geneve Unisonic

For those that don't know about this watch, it is a tuning fork watch that used a gussied up Bulova 218 under license. UG took a 218 movement (in this case a 2182) crafted it out of a silver/ stainless steel colored metal(instead of the copper color that most 218 movements had), added some geneve strips and rotated the movement a few degrees to give the watch a crown at 3 o'clock.

I have been on the hunt for other tuning fork watches to augment my Omega f300 and several Bulova 218 and 214 watches. I looked at Longines but the cheapest working one was over $400. I looked at the others and working ones of those were $400-$500.

I chanced upon this one by accident and made the seller a best offer. it was accepted.

This one supposedly was recently serviced and a new battery was put in.

It is stainless steel with a gold bezel (i suspect 14kt gold as I have been reading up on these watches)

The best thing about this watch is that it uses the same movement as in the Accutron 218 so if there is ever an issue with the current movement, a parts donor 2182 movement can be found in a trashed gold plated cased bulova. Unlike the ESA made tuning fork movements in which a working uncased movement is just as expensive as a cased example, a working bulova 218 movement can be found cheaply due to a lot of 218 movements being put in gold plated cases were they are trashed by using a twistoflex band.

Pics are from the seller as i just bought the watch last night and it has not even shipped to me yet

Hey congratulations. I came across the watch when looking for different brands using the esa . Ended up researching them and looking for other UG unisonics . I was very tempted to make an offer but by the time I got back to it it was gone!

Hello,

You should have made an offer on this watch. I got it for a good price. I cannot wait to get it.

Hi Journeyforce,

Can you post a movement pic once its arrived please.

Regards,
Hello,

Yes when I get the watch I will post a movement pic. I will take it to my watch maker to have the battery replaced (yes I know the auction stated the battery was changed but I always change them out when i get them so I know when it was last changed.)
