The full-on rush to market by ambitious new watch brands continues unabated, so it’s appropriate that one of the new models on offer by Los Angeles based Meister Watches is the Speedster.

Kingson Tse

Meister Watches (MSTR) is an independent brand founded in 2009 by Kingson Tse and Ryan Pietersz. The brand specializes in large, bold, confident, quality watches.

Meister’s two new latest offerings are in response to repeated demands for automatic watches, and this is the LA brand’s first two models powered with automatic movements. Both are now up on Indiegogo, and after 3 weeks, they have already comfortably cruised past their target of $15,000 and achieved pledges to date totaling $20,145. So the rest, as they say, is just gravy and these watches are going to hit the streets soon.

The two new limited edition watches up for your pledge are the 43mm Noble (43mm) and the larger 45mm Speedster. These watches are limited and individually numbered on the back. Meister promises that early bird perks will ship when the campaign ends in November and all other perks will ship in time for the holidays.

The rationale and design ethos behind Meister is that of luxury performance cars such as the BMW M, Lexus F-Sport, Mercedes AMGs and Audi RS models, noted for their use of carbon fiber, fine leathers, and stylish accents that separate them from the standard models. Meister have introduced the same principles to their watches to emulate the luxury and feel of a performance car in a watch. In addition to cars, Meister has absorbed the extrovert street style of hip hop and the NBA.

The Noble

Inspired by a love of sports cars, the 43mm Noble houses a 21-jewel Japanese automatic Miyota 821A movement. Made from NASA grade 316L stainless steel, the case and bezel are designed to be overtly masculine, but also intricate, with bolts, precision cuts and a polished bezel. The watch is completed with a dual layer gasket and screw down crown to make it water resistant up to 300 meters.

On the dial face are featured 3-D hash marks instead of numerals to draw out the carbon fiber. The watch also has a date calendar function under the upgraded anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass.

Turn the watch over and there’s an exhibition window revealing the movement under a MSTR lens. The full stainless steel band is held together with a two-button quick release butterfly clasp, making it easy to swap to a leather or silicon/rubber strap. The Noble will be available in Rose Gold, Champagne Gold, Silver, or Black available at a pre-order price of $325.00

The Speedster

The 45mm Speedster is powered by a 21-jewel Japanese automatic Miyota 82S7 movement with a 24-hour clock and separate second hand indicator. It features a larger 45mm, multi-piece bolt down case and a layered bezel. The watch is water resistant to 300 meters or 10 ATM. Like The Noble, the lens is also made of sapphire with an anti-reflective coating.

The numerical hour indicators overlays a carbon fiber dial face with sub-dials to emulate the gauge clusters of popular race cars. The spinning gears of the automatic movement are also exposed to showcase the workings of the "engine" that drives the watch. The sub-dials show the seconds and 24-hour clock. Again, like The Noble, the back case features an exhibition window to show off the movement under a MSTR lens. A multi-piece stainless steel band with a two-button butterfly clasp completes the watch. This watch will have an early bird pre-order price of $360.00

However, if you want perks and collabs with your purchase, Meister has included some interesting options including Lakers tickets, and either a Kinjaz or Bruce Lee  tee shirt. Additionally, there is the Meister promo pack which includes Meister in-car air freshener a window sticker and a Meister tee shirt. There’s also an add on of a 3-watch or 6-watch carry case for your Meister collection. The watches are backed by a 3 year warranty.
