Introducing MILENEAL Watches

Hello Everyone,

I'm Wilson, founder of MILENEAL (miˈlenēəl) Watches, based out of Malaysia. Pretty sure most of you haven't heard of us so here's a brief introduction!

MILENEAL Watches launched less than two years ago on Kickstarter with the Classic Collection. On hindsight, yes! it's cliche indeed! But it was the one that got us started. The Classic Collection was a minimal looking watch but what we would like to think separates us from the other minimalist watches is our multi-layered dial with a raised dome lens. Thanks to about 250 backers, we were able to bring our brand to life.

After receiving multiple feedback and also working internally on a new collection, we launched our second campaign offering both quartz and automatic versions on our new collection - The Prestige. With the Prestige, our focus was still the same as our initial project which was to create affordable watches with quality specs. We realized the Classic was a bit off the track because of it being available in quartz only. The Prestige, on the contrary, was made available in automatic version as well (powered by a Miyota 9015). And fair enough, the Prestige Automatic was the one that was more popular among customers, mainly because of the specifications it has to offer.

These are the specs..
- Miyota 9015
- 316L Stainless Steel Case
- Sapphire Coated K1 With AR Treatment
- Top Grain Leather Straps
- 5 ATM Water Resistance

We received compliments mostly on our fume dial, the raised dome lens and the movement it uses... But with such small customer base, we believe there's more feedback we could gather and that's what we hope being present on WatchUSeek Forum would bring us.

Sky Clock Cloud Atmosphere World

Having said that, as of now, we are now at a point where we are introducing the Prestige 2.0 version. A newer Prestige with some upgrades and improvements. Yes, of course we wish we could dough out more designs and wider offering of products but being a new small microbrand, I have to say that it's not easy at all working with a small team and budget. So for now, baby steps is all we are taking. We hope to introduce more products in the near future. But for now, let us hear you. We wanna know what you have to say!

P.S. Here are some photos of the latest Prestige Collection! Do check out our Instagram page for more photos!

Looks like my thoughts have been stated by others in this thread already, but for what it's worth:
- Love the fume dial and color choices!
- I like the crown and the case is fine.
- No offense but the brand name is so corny. I would be embarrassed to wear something with this name.
- Needs minute markers.
- Lengthen the minute hand, make the hands easier to differentiate
- No-date option would be very cool, but I don't mind the date placement. Maybe a frame around the date window is needed though.

Interesting watch, but as others have mentioned, not a fan of the brand name.

The name doesn't bother me at all. I do like the green dial, the reasonable size (although 38mm would be an insta-purchase, as mentioned by others), the crown, and the use of the Miyota 9015. I do prefer no-date dials or date-at-6 but that's a minor thing.

I appreciate you asking for and listening to feedback.

I will say that at the pre-order price, it appears to be a very good deal.

+ I absolutely applaud the decision to go with 40mm instead of 36-38mm. Going smaller or with an 18mm strap would be an instant no-buy from me. I'd prefer 41-42mm but am willing to compromise. ;-) There's no way to please everyone here, but 40mm is probably the best compromise.
+ Great movement, nice dial.
+ I like the crown

0 I'd prefer a 6:00 date, as the 3:00 looks unbalanced, or at least it looks unframed. I would not prefer a no-date option personally.
0 As noted, I'd prefer subtle minute markers. Going without isn't a deal-killer for me, but it's a definite nice-to-have.
0 Even on a dress watch, I'd prefer a hint of lume on the hour and minute hand.
0 I worry about the silver dial's legibility with silver hands.

- I don't really like the name or the fact that you're trying to market to a specific demographic only. I hate to beat a dead horse, but it just doesn't work well in colloquial N. American English.

All in all, I think it's a good design. I wish you good luck in your venture.

I think the case shape is uninspiring/boring. Also, the dome isnt't all that dramatic. You'd be hard press with this current iteration differentiating yourself from the Orient Bambino.
Thanks again for the comments. Love the comment on the need for minute markers. It’s one we thought a lot of people out there would be okay without. But at least we know now that it’s something that makes a difference for some 🙂
Regarding the minute markers I find in important that the minute hand reaches them so if the markers are added the hands should be longer. If the hands don't reach the markers I prefer not to have them at all. Also a domed sapphire crystal would be a nice option. I'm aware that it would increase the price significantly but maybe it could be available for extra charge. And I agree with others that the name is the main problem. I could live with pretty much with all other minor shortcomings. Although I'm technically narrowly a millennial (on the older side) I don't want to identify as such because the term has some negative connotations. But otherwise I really like the watch.
Loving the look of these and very tempted to pick one up, regardless of the brand name. There are not a lot of pics of the 'autumn red' dial so I'm struggling to get a feel as to whether it is truly red or more of a burgundy colour. Could your share some more pics of that one (pref with the silver case)?
I love the look and have more than 50 divers and very few "dress watches"... So I've ordered a blue auto.
The name would shock me more if I didn't think initially that was Miles and Neal attached and a sort of nod to some guys I don't know. Millennial is not necessarily very appealing as a name, but Miléneal is OK to me!

Hi,
It's more of a burgundy. Leaning towards dark red. I'll post more photos soon!

Thank you!

[QUOTEAlthough I'm technically narrowly a millennial (on the older side) I don't want to identify as such because the term has some negative connotations.[/QUOTE]

What would put me off is the spelling, aside from any connotations of the word.
It's shocking that many of the current generation seem to leave school/college without the ability to spell often the most basic of words, and the name on your watch looks as if it's come from someone who can't spell.
I'd be worried what wearing it would say about me to others.

I see what you mean. But we initially created the name based on the phonetic alphabets of the word - /mɪˈlɛnɪəl/. Hence, mileneal.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback. We are actually taking a serious consideration of rebranding. As we are somewhat a new brand, it's feasible to have it done.

If I might say, the plain text branding on the Prestige 2.0 prototype you have there makes it look generic and cheap imho. Apart from the fume dial, there feels very little to make the Prestige stand out from the many minimalist fashion brands cropping up as of late.

Definitely support the previous commentary about hand length and I'm also one who would appreciate minute markers, but that's more to do with my unhealthy obsession of syncing a minute hand to an exact 0 mark.

+1 vote for re-branding now before you get deeper in. I've held off buying a lot of nice-looking "Geckota" watches simply because I couldn't get past the name, just for example. Maybe you could focus group some potential names on this forum if you do decide to make the change. Either way, best of luck...great looking watches.

Any update on the status? I eventually decided to go ahead, so I'm in on an autumn red.
‘Boomer’ would be a fine name for a rebrand. ;)
