Swiss watchmaker NOVE have never been one to shy away from innovative watch craftsmanship . Now, with the NOVE Craftsman, their latest launch, the brand has introduced the world's first screw crown system case back . Unlike traditional crowns featured on the side of a watch, the Craftsman crown is located on the back of the watch and is activated with the application of pressure.

A complex piece of engineering, the Craftsman was inspired by architectural beauty and craftsmanship - hence the name. Its surgical grade steel case work is fused with an ebony wood bezel; each piece of wood is hand-selected by NOVE, the wood grains unique to every Craftsman making each watch truly one-of-a-kind. Elegant in design, its smoothed curved case sits effortlessly on the wrist, measuring 50.5mm in diameter.

The dial is minimalist with circular hour markers, while the hour and minutes hands illuminate with Super-LumiNova. There is no seconds hand - part of NOVE's reminder to be present and enjoy life whether you're rock climbing, sailing or attending a cocktail party. Like all NOVE's timepieces, this is a watch built for the pret-a-porter lifestyle.

Beneath beats the Ronda 756 Swiss Quartz movement, which facilitates the sophisticated back-press system of the crown, the Craftsman's signature feature: the specially-designed case back houses a mechanism which allows the user to adjust the minute and hour hands. It's the world's first screw crown system case back, no minor feat. But that likely won't come as a surprise to anyone familiar with the brand's innovative offerings to date.

NOVE's goal with the Craftsman was to design a watch with a screw crown system seamlessly integrated, so that the watch can wear comfortably given its oversized design. The result is a cleaner look, a perfect circular case without obstruction.

So how exactly does the case back crown system work? To correct the minute hand, apply brief pressure for two seconds. Three to four seconds of medium pressure programs the hour hand, while more steady pressure continuously corrects the time and spins until pressure is released. This innovative mechanism allows for a water-tight crown system, letting the watch reach depths of up to 200 meters.

This patented bottom-press system is just one of the many ways NOVE continues to take a new approach to traditional watchmaking with their timepieces, merging fine craftsmanship with modern design. On this watch alone, 47 of the piece's 60 individual parts have been perfectly hand polished by the company's own craftsmen. Meanwhile, the reliable Quartz movement that enables this screw crown mechanism has a life span of six years and the watch comes with a two-year warranty.

Protected by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the luxurious NOVE Craftsman is available in five different color combinations: silver with black dial, blue with white dial, gold with black dial, rose gold with grey dial and black with black dial. Each piece is teamed with a genuine leather strap, which also available in a variety of colors, and only contributes to its eye-catching design.

Through their unique line of Swiss-made timepieces, NOVE continues to deliver continue true usability, durability, versatility and innovation. Their latest, the Craftsman, with its bottom-press system, is certainly proof of that. Starting at $535 USD, NOVE is currently offering Watchuseek readers an exclusive discount good for 20% off, using the code WUS20.
