A new line called IQ+ Move under the tagline Don't let a fitness band ruin your look just appeared on the Timex site -- following their Metropolitan+ semi-smart lineup.

Both IQ+ and Metroplitan+ offer a streamlined feature set, well short of full on smart watches.

With iWatch sales plummeting and others sure to follow, no one is sure where smart watches or semi-smart watches will settle out.

This hasn't stopped Timex from looking for a sweet spot.

Features include sync-to-phone for "Perfect Time" and "Perfect Date" and activity tracking: steps and distance, calories burned and sleep metrics -- with percentage to goal.

Dials have a clean, almost Daniel Wellington look, but updated with a more graphic, contemporary look and, happily, what must now be considered a Timex/Guilio Gallo design trademark: the sweet chapter ring indents.

Silver, black or grey brass case, resin bands in black or grey, leather bands in black or brown -- and Indigo. Crowns feature a + symbol.

No overall size specs posted yet. I'm hoping for 40-43mm. Case depth is 12mm, lugs are 20mm. Retail price is $149.

Not sure how this is possible, but the Timex website says "No Charging Required." Also not sure about the 'date syncing' and what appears snugged into the chapter ring PERFECT DATE. The intro models don't appear to have date complications, but maybe subsequent models will?
