Is Deep Blue Sinking Into The Abyss?

It seems to me that Deep Blue hasn't released any of their better stuff for around two years now. Anyone have any insight? Other brands have had releases by now despite COVID.

I'd like to see a nice, not overdone, 40mm to 42mm Swiss, tritium tube watch. Maybe even COSC please.šŸ˜‰

Deep Blue is kind of limited in what they can do given they are called Deep Blue. I don't think they're going to branch out into dress watches or flight watches (that's what their spinoff brand Air something something is for). They're still small as heck from what I gather too. Looks like they're mainly playing with dialwork. Which to be honest for me when you're playing in microbrand space it's not like I expect a great movement, great design (given they are ordering from a catalog), or great finishing. So dial is what they play with.

I had a Deep Blue years ago. Great watch. Just too big. Not a diver fan.

Deep Blue is generally mid-grade in the minor leagues. I know that. But they've released quite a few gems over the years.

Marathon is robust, no doubt. But it is what it is. A robust military tool watch that could be great with a little refinement. However, that's not their niche. I actually have one that I'm moving on very soon.

Somehow, i don't foresee the words Deep Blue and COSC in the same sentence. I don't know the company well enough - do their Swiss auto watches sell well? I have though of Deep Blue as a budget seller - 40% discount all the time on their website, ShopHQ as a sales outlet.

I briefly had one of their steel 'master 1000' watches. I didn't wear it and sold it pretty quickly on eBay. I still wear one of their least expensive watches, quartz with a polycarbonate case - very, very lightweight. T25 tritium, so visible at night without being a flashlight. A little blunt with the blocky numbers and wavy dial. I look at it like a substitute for a G shock or Luminox, and it fits that niche really well.

I tried to love a Deep Blue. Was looking for as close a clone to my Rolex Yachtmaster to wear as a beater and overseas, so if anyone decided to clunk me over the head for it, I wouldn't be disappointed in losing it. Turns out the resemblance to the Yachtie was superficial at best. The watch wears way too big and high. Seems to be just a Seiko under a different brand name.

Whether right or wrong....that has always been my take on them. Essentially a Seiko SKX clone with a fancy dial and/or different finish.

I almost bought a used PVD model here for $90, but opted to pass on it.

Every time I hear the brand-name, I recall the artless marketing stunt they tried to pull here last year that ended with a locked thread and a banned Deep Blue marketing dork.

If they’re that ham fisted in their approach, no wonder the brand appears to be circling the drain.

I missed that! What happened?

I have two Deep Blue watches, really the same watch with a different dial and bezel color. One of them has become my main at-home evenings and night watch because of good readability and great lume (lasts through the night). What I would like to see is for them to offer their ladies' watches in automatic. I'd probably buy a third one if they did that.

Here are mine two. I know quality gets talked about a lot with this brand, but I'm happy with them. The clicks of the bezel are solid and have a very satisfying pop. Everything that should line up, lines up. Proper milled clasp with solid clicks. And it's NH35, you know what you're getting there. The pepsi one is my go-to for at home, low visibility time because it is very readable at first glance. They make engineers bracelets available, which are my favorite kind. Yes, they are large and heavy, but some people like that. Both were $198.

(The specks on the dials: it was drizzling when I took the photo.)

What?!? I just bought a watch from this brand and just came across this thread. When I was doing the research for the watch all I saw where the threads were it got "relatively" good reviews. At any rate, the watch is still good for the price I paid. I basically bought a 41mm T-100 watch basically for the Tritium lume.

Don't be alarmed. They are still good watches and great bargains. That's why the shilling was so sad: it wasn't needed.

Congratulations on your T100. (y) That's one I bought too. Sold mine due to the mass simply being too much for me (I've called it the small diver for people who prefer big divers), but it was and remains an outstanding watch for the "always on sale" price.
