Often jewelers ask if you want your jewelry and/or watch into the cleaner when you are there. Do they submerse the whole watch into the cleaner or just the bracelet? I would imagine their cleaners are higher energy versions, not the little cheap ones you see on Amazon and the like.

Every time I go to Bendover Bridge, they want to clean my Rolex.
I tell them not to dip it.
So I hope they don't.
I've cleaned rings in my ultrasonic cleaner, and it lodged a few diamonds loose.
I clean my bracelets suspended by a couple chopsticks over a glass of soapy water.
Watches are rated for Sea Water, not soapy water with surfactants.

Not the movement, of course.

I pull the winding stem, remove the movement & bracelet, sometimes the crystal, then place all the parts into the cleaning basket. The movement gets placed under a cover until I'm ready to deal with it. Quartz movements get a new battery after a light going over with ridico, and to check for battery acid residue. Only the metal case and bracelet should be cleaned in the ultrasonic machine.

Yup, just today my wife placed her engagement and wedding ring with the parts I was cleaning.

Putting a fully aasembled, running watch into an ultrasonic cleaner would not be advisable. Some ADs also have steam cleaners. I decline any and all cleaning on my watches, but I'm happy to turn over rings (just make sure the place is reputable, it's not unheard of for a ring to come back with a swapped stone)

I once accidentally submerged my quartz watch in to the cleaner (usually used for glasses cleaning).

No harm was done to the watch.

Not really sure what it would do that offers a distinct advantage over something more simple, and do
It yourself, like warm tap a drop of soap and a toothbrush on occasion. Not sure the added ultrasonic is doing much for a relatively new watch that’s kept well.

As a jeweller I would never immerse an entire watch in an ultrasonic unless I wanted a very disgruntled customer and/or a very expensive repair bill.
Rings and watch parts are a different story. That’s what ultrasonics and steam cleaners are designed for.
As far as switching stones in a customers ring while cleaning you’d have to be really stupid and really quick to pull that one off.

I've had my Omega cleaned using the ultrasonic at the Omega boutique a couple of time
Always been happy with the results.
Not sure how they go about it .
Last time I took my watch to be adjusted they cleaned it for me . All at no cost. That's for both the adjustment and clean

Did the rings survive?
I thought about going on a jewelry site to see about finding replacement stones for mine.
Two diamonds and an oval black onyx.
The wedding ring is solid white gold with no stones. The engagement ring is antique with a large center stone and smaller sized stones surrounding the center and trailing down the sides. They are all very well mounted and didn't budge. I checked them with my eye loupe. I have one of those small imported machines, and the fluid is changed for each use. If anything comes up missing, there is only one place they could be...at the bottom of the small tank. If I did notice missing stones I would empty the tank through a filter and retrieve them there instead of dumping them down the drain!
