Is it possible to shorten the Long (non-buckle) side of a leather strap so that it still looks presentable?

Is this a service offered anywhere?

I may come into possession of some 26 and 24mm Pantast straps that are about 130/80... I need 118/80.

One of them is threaded down the right and left side of the strap.
The other is not threaded... it just has a thread design at the top and bottom end.

Looking at both straps it can be done, more so with the stitchless one as the stitching is away from where the cut would be needed & therefor could be easily replicated in the shorter length. The full stitched strap would be a bit tricky. Once the cut was made it would look a bit untidy as the distance between the edge of the strap & stitch line would be closer together than they are now. Plus you would need to restitch or even add stitch which would be difficult if the holes are too small.

I'd leave the full stitch strap alone as it opens a whole can of nasty worms. Besides, a bit of tail is great....... :-!

I agree with both of these guys.. who knows when you'll need a little bit of tail! ;-)

Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! Especially if you may ever sell it.

12mm seems like a lot of tail to me...
Not really that much at all mate. If you have an average size wrist of 7" (17-18cm) then a 130mm long end is perfect. It will just be visable from the underside of your wrist.

This is one of my handmade JPHstraps & at 130mm for the long end it looks great on a 7" wrist I reckon. Also remember this is a big watch I have on at 48mm. If your watch is smaller than that the strap will be a little shorter again on your wrist which would be better again for you.
