The watch in the first post is a fake, sorry to say.

For starters, that isn't a Swiss 6497/8 in there, but a Chinese clone of it - an ST3600 (the bridges are the giveaway).

So given that its a Chinese movement labelled falsely as Swiss, well.... the rest becomes clear.

Also OP, given the recent creation of your account and that its your first post, I wonder if you're the ebay seller who's pushing these at the moment? Testing the market to see if we'll figure out?

I guess we won't be hearing from the OP again anytime soon.

I dont see anything suspicious about the things you mention. Clearly there is swiss 6498. Maybe on request by customers.

It is genuine. Just poorly made. Which may be the reason it was still around for you to buy new. That A4 stamped into your case back tells you it was made in 2004. Four years before Bulova was sold to Citizen for 250 million dollars.
The Bulova fonts are correct for the period. It was not labeled an Accutron because it was not an automatic. Pre Citizen, Bulova used all ETA movements in their "Swiss Made" watches. Yours is the ETA 6498.1 base version. The same unit that Laco uses in its Cuxhaven Navy watch today. They use the elabore' version pictured below.
That is a fine watch and a small piece of history you have there. I doubt it was the last mechanical Bulova ever made. But it's certainly one of the last new ones you will ever find. Congrats and enjoy. (y)

Please do not spread misinfo if you are not an expert on movement or history of the watch. What "an ST3600 (the bridges are the giveaway)." and whatever nonsense...
If you dont see anything wrong in the first pic of this post, then you need to have your eyes checked.

The watch in your post IS NOT the same as the watch posted by the OP.

Look at It!

Yes there are Bulovas with 6497/8s, but this isn't one of them.

Have you even worked on a 6497/8? Torn it apart? Compared it to an ST3600?

Do you even know WHAT an ST3600 is?

Look, if you aren't knowledgeable, please, just leave it to those of us who ARE, and can better help those looking for information.

Stop misleading people please and STOP regurgitating what you've read on Google.

Thank you.
