I was given a U-Boat Classico AS/45 watch. I am grateful for the gift. And I love it. But a so-called friend questions the watch's authenticity, since it was bought from Amazon. The watch came in a wonderful box, with cool black booklets and a plastic registration card. Lots of Italian. Is there some sure way to determine that it is genuine, since I understand that many fine watches are copied in China?

Is there any other way besides the contact form on their website (Uboat Watches) to get in touch with the company?

Someone offered me a 45mm U-5365 (Miyota Auto), but I can't find a lot of information on that specific model. Anyone happen to have any old brochures or catalogs flying around by any chance?

Thanks a bunch :)

Please do not hijack threads.

And of course U-Boat is the right contact or any AD or do a google search in order to get pics to compare.

Thank you for the suggestion to take my U-Boat Classico to an AD - I assume that means Authorized Dealer. I live in the Midwest. The nearest AD is in New York City. There are no dealers anywhere close to me. So I hoped someone here would offer a telltale sign that differentiates the real from the fake. Remember, this was a gift and I would NEVER say a word to the giver if it is a fake. But I'd like to know.

Take a look at this post. https://www.watchuseek.com/f2/how-spot-fake-u-boat-415502.html

If you've got the credit card with the S/N. That's probably the best bet, call it in and see if they can verify the number.

Regards,

Mike

Sorry for the supposed hijack..!

OT: Even an AD can't give you all the answers..! I already went to the AD in my city, but he couldn't even tell me what movements were inside the U-Boats he was selling... Maybe you can post pics of your Classico on this forum?

Soz again!

U-Boat Follow-Up

A few days ago I posted here asking how to know if my new U-Boat watch - purchased through Amazon - was genuine. Finally, I went to the source. To U-Boat in Italy. Communications were easily handled in English. I got a quick response asking for photos, which I sent this morning. About two hours later I received a confirmation from the U-Boat people confirming that mine is a genuine U-Boat watch. It was interesting that Amazon, which usually names the vendors who sell through them, seemed to have stocked and sold this watch directly from Amazon. It arrived in one day (at no charge). I wonder how and where Amazon makes U-Boat purchases and then sells them at $1,000 under bricks and mortar retail prices. Thanks to all of you who offered help.
