My buddy got taken. Use caution. He purchased a groupon and got a really good fake. I'll try to post a few pics.

At first it felt ok... BUT...

CONS>>>
The Adjust ande Reverse buttons are switched.
The Crystal is cheaper plastic.
The bezel and strap just dont feel up to quality.
The tangs and buckle are pretty flimsy.
The sub dial at 12:00 is non functioning. Upon further investigation its glued to the dial (or molded). And its in a vertical position, not on "0" which is around the 7:00 position of the sub dial.
The "chapter ring" is not printed correctly.
The DST is not in the correct place.

PROS>>> (well there are none for a fakey BUT...)
Its a working module.
The minute hand advances every 20 sec.
The light is a LED type light.
The case back looks REAL close. But after comparing it to my 6900, the font is ever so slightly different. But honestly the case back almost threw me. Its a quality fake. Or we wondered if it was legit but "borrowed".
The dial details are there... the little texturing and the layout looks good.
The H SET works. So the hands can be manipulated like on the real deal.

Still, its actually a really good fake. Im sure many people would be fooled.

Would you mind letting us know the differences between that and a real one? I would have thought that was legit at first glance. The case back looks pretty good for a fake too.

Looks cheap to me, tachy hand its glued to the face or even just painted and pointed to 12 o clock position. Display numbers are too thin than a legit ga-100, and the price.... sells for 10 dollars, enough warning signs. ;-)

Difference is they never made a blue resin GA100 or even a blue resin that would fit it if it was a real GA100 module. So it's pretty easy to spot if you're familiar with the line

this. Always make sure you can find the model number elswhere. The MAJORITY of fakes on ebay don't have a model number, or just list a partial model number. Several of the fake GA100's have pos display's where the authentic one has a neg display.

I have seen plenty of near fully functional fake G-Shocks and some look better than that one. However in places that specialise in fakes they dont pretend it is real. It pays to know what real ones are available from Casio and to buy from reputable places. And the old adage to bear in mind always - if it is too good to be true...

the hash marks under the 6 are different as well. The genuine article has a solid mark whereas the fakes have two hashes on each side.

Ebay is littered with these crap fakes, and they don't care. As already said, 1st port of call is the top sub-dial. Pointer on this model, at it's normal 'rest' position should be at the 7 o'clock location. Also, Casio's pointers are real, not painted on!!

If I just look at the photos, it is not easy to differentiate this is a fake. Price and color scheme would be clues but not so easy for consumers who don't follow Casio's range closely.

Terrible, these fake goods sellers :(
