For sale from my personal collection is this amazing 100% original Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Grande Taille ref. 270.8.62.
A timeless Art Deco design icon!

The watch is in excellent, dare I say near new condition.

I bought this watch at a small jeweller in Germany, who bought it from an estate.
I was truly amazed because this watch turned out to be unworn…..
It probably had been bought or received as a gift and then sat in its original boxes with its papers in a cupboard. One thing I did guess was that the former owner was….a smoker! As the watch box smelled of cigarettes. Luckily that smell is gone now.
The jeweller was unsure from which year the watch is, he thought it was from somewhere around 2010-2011….

I then called my watchmaker to have it serviced. Inside ticks a beautiful yet relatively simple Jaeger-LeCoultre 822 handwound movement. I asked to have the gaskets replaced and then he sighed…..
Turns out that non-JLC service centers can’t order these very specific rectangular gaskets…. And you can’t buy generic gaskets…
So I called another watchmaker… same story….

I then duly sent it off to a my local JLC dealer in December 2016 who sent it off of the JLC service center in Amsterdam. I explicitly asked not to polish the case as it was new and scratch free, they happily obliged.

But I did had to have the crown replaced?
WHY?

Anyway, it did get serviced, it got a new crown, it got the correct gaskets, I even got some discount but I still had to pay a whopping 530 euros when I picked it up in January 2017! As you can imagine it still runs very fine.

I have seldomly worn this watch.
This watch comes on the original brown alligator JLC strap and JLC buckle, please look at the inside of the strap, it has hardly been worn. These original straps are around eur. 400,-

I contacted JLC this week to see if they could tell me the year this watch was made. They couldn’t…..
I could have requested an extract from the archives but that would have set me back around 250 euros and if my watch was younger than 20 years they could not provide an extract. They however did tell me later in the conversation hat this case and guilloche dial combination was made from 2004 onwards….

Please look at the photos, I would say this watch is scratch free and pretty much like new.

I hardly wear it so the time has come to find a new owner, no trades please.

€3.990
