Form follows fun or fun follows Form ?
The Bauhaus in Dessau is celebrating its anniversary. 100 years ago, the school of art and design moved from its founding location in Weimar to Dessau.
Junghans is commemorating this with two special watches, each limited to 1,000 pieces, that do justice to the Bauhaus and the anniversary in many ways: the FORM A Bauhaus Edition (J. 800.2, basically ETA 2824) and the FORM Quartz Bauhaus Edition. Clear lines, bright colors. The new Junghans FORM Bauhaus models combine the functional design principles of the Bauhaus with a modern watch. They impress with their clear lines, which reflect the Bauhaus credo that form must follow function.
Junghans has also embraced color theory. Color research and color theory have a long tradition. The universal genius Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), the poet Johan Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), and many artists and teachers at the Bauhaus in Dessau all studied color intensively. To give the colors a fitting stage, the Junghans designers chose two understated colors as the basis for the two anniversary watches.
The FORM A Bauhaus Edition (Diameter 39,3mm, height 9,5mm) takes the stage entirely in black, including the strap, case, and dial.
The FORM Quartz Bauhaus Edition (39,9mm/7mm) features a sleek silver dial in a sleek stainless steel case.
The indices depict a classic color wheel, with the three subtractive primary colors evenly spaced and the blended colors in between. The hands are a neutral gray and finely coated with luminous material. Scratch resistant sapphire crystals with an anti-reflective coating ensure optimal visibility of the special dials.
FORM A: €1,290
FORM Quartz: €590
