my birthday is coming up this week, here is a conversation with my wife the other day:

me: i was actually thinking of buying a rolex i found.
her: no.
me: no?
her: no, i'm going to buy it for you. happy birthday.

we picked it up today. i've already had it to my watchmaker to give it the once-over. with a minor mention of a worn clasp, he declared it in wonderful condition. i'd been looking for a GMT watch and i couldn't be more pleased i settled on a 16570. it's a Z-series with the 3186.

Congrats! and Happy Birthday.

I bought my first Rolex (Datejust Stainless steel with linen dial) when I got my first promotion to manager level. I'm going to give it to my son when he graduates college next year.

Congratulations on your wife and your new watch! My 50th birthday present discussion didn’t go anywhere near as well as your discussion went. Enjoy your beautiful new watch!
