I just received this grail from cheshirecatiii. I can not begin to tell you how much I love this watch! This Pogue 6139-6005 is in incredible shape for a watch made in April 1972, and it is in perfect working condition. As many of you know the Seiko 6139 was the first automatic chronograph to achieve serial production and this particular dial and bracelet variation was worn by Colonel Pogue during the NASA Mission, and was the first automatic chronograph in space. This one will be worn once in a blue moon, stored in a safe, and given to my son when he is old enough to appreciate the significance of such a great timepiece.

Of all the watches I have had in my personal collection that I have sold, that model is the one I regret selling the most!
I know that I would regret selling this one for sure, which is why I already told my son that it will be his one day. Looks cool, has a great history, and a working man's watch (i.e. was affordable to the average Joe in the day). Nice examples that aren't Frakensteined are getting harder and harder to find.

Wear it more then once or twice a year. It's a great watch, takes a good beating(at least mine and Dr. Pogues did). Or, there are other variations like my June 69 all silver blue and red that can still be found occasionally for a great under $250 price.
. On the other handvi guess I can understand. I gave my uncle my first. 6139 golden dial and I think he too wears it only on special occasions. Though sometimes I still suspect he is baffled by the day/date set function. ;). Good luck with your WR Pogue

I really like that there has been a low simmering stew of popularity for both the specific yellow dial pogue as well as the other earliest 6139 silver, black and sports-timer variations of this 'first' to mass production auto chronograph.
