Just wanted to share-OWC content

I've received the OWC 9411 about 1 wk ago and have to say its an outstanding piece. I talked with Dan and was asking about the styles and the wait times and happened to ask if he by chance had any "laying around". And guess what? This was a special piece that he was working on to see what it looked like. A 9411 blue dial/black bezel set up with 5517 hands. It really is a great watch. I typically dont post many comments about watches but felt like I should with this one. I wont go into details as there are several reviews written much better than I could articulate it but I wanted to share some pics of this beauty. Although I will say that over the past wk its averaging about -2 sec/day. I've been trying them on different straps in preparation for a trip to the Florida Keys in a couple weeks. I love the OEM bracelet and I have the mesh as well and those are great fits, but always have to try some new things too. So feel free to make more suggestions and add your own pics of your OWCs. Sorry for the rambling and on to a few pics.

Had this for a few weeks now. It has been on my wrist ever since. I usually put blue loctite (the removable kind) on my bracelet screws. Has anyone done this? Thanks.

I do on anything I plan to keep and don't have to resize.

Yes, blue 'em up! I did after one backed out a bit.

I am interested but I would like the older "Orange" branded dial for the mil-sub.
I finally broke down and bought one of these after it showed up on WUS pre-owned in the configuration I wanted - No Date, Fully indexed bezel, Soprod A10 movement. My wrist size is 7 1/8" if I hold my breath real hard; the OWC just "looks right" on my wrist size, IMHO. I promptly sold my Steinhart OVM Gen 1 to a buddy of mine, though I can't bring myself to sell my MK II LRRP! The difference in lume between the dial/hands and the bezel WILL NOT STAND, however; I'll be packing it up and sending it to "Magic Jack" at IWW next week - gonna have him relume the dial indices/hands in either C5 or C7, whichever Dan uses on the bezel insert:

Solid pickup look. Looking forward to the unified lume.
Great! Now you have me questioning the lume on my Snowflake; I don't recall the lume being mismatched? In fact, my memory of the Snowflake is that the lume is excellent. But then, I haven't worn it more than three or four times in the past 3 months or so, so I could be wrong. Will check tonight.

I think that is a good excuse to give it some wrist time.
G'day fellas.
I reckon the lume on the snowflakes are different. It's the Milsub with the "vintage lume" that the discrepancy arises. Bezel lume is much brighter than the dial
In a perfect world they'd line up but nonetheless I'm still pretty stoked!

They line up alright in the light. It's only once you see the real difference.
Rock on OWC. Snowflake blue dial one day!

From the lower globe....

I just exposed my blue dial Snowflake to about 20 seconds of intense early morning natural light (overcast here) and took this photo after about five minutes back indoors. The hands are brighter than the dial and bezel but all are the same colour.

I'd give the OWC some wrist time, but this came in this week and I've finally got it on wrist (had to shuffle the Emperor Tuna off after a week):

Another idea I had if anybody is interested was to buy a replica Submariner bracelet and see if that would fit the watch. If not then I was hoping to be able to carry out a similar modification as previously illustrated and fit the clasp to the OWC bracelet. Unfortunately when it arrived I found that the clasp just wouldn't be possible to retro fit to the OWC bracelet. The replica bracelet just about fit the watch but I had to file the lower curved section of the end link to get the screwbar holes to line up nicely. Here's a link to what I bought: http://www...........watches.co/item.php?item_id=1581&page=g&category_id=81

The Submariner replica bracelet end links do not fit as well as the original OWC ones obviously, there's a small gap where they meet the curved case of the watch. The bracelet seems decent enough quality wise, it feels light in the hand however after holding the thick links of the OWC. It's acceptable to me, I'll live with it. I'll show some images so everyone can have a look. The clasp I find excellent. It has notches cut on the underside and it basically allows for tool free micro-adjustment, great for when you warm up and your wrist needs a touch more breathing space. When you lengthen the bracelet you cannot tell, there are no gaps visible from the extension as it all happens under the clasp.

The clasp is 18mm wide.

It comes with a Rolex crown badge attached which I removed with some delicate application of brute force and ignorance! I pulled it off with a pliers, then filed the mark that was left on the clasp with a needle file followed by a lick of an oil stone and finally some green steel wool.

Overall I'm happy enough and I think I'll be leaving this bracelet on. I haven't put it on over a suit yet but I have a feeling the extension available may not be enough. Will have to see, I use a 6.5mm wetsuit and a neoprene drysuit. I actually wanted to get the Rolex Sea Dweller replica strap but bought the Submariner one by mistake because I'm an idiot! The Sea Dweller clasp has a similar micro adjustment but also has a conventional wetsuit extension built in as well. I've ordered one of these clasps and will see what it's like, link here: http://www...........watches.co/item.php?item_id=2800&category_id=59
I'm thinking of doing similar to this but had an idea. Are the centre links on the replica submariner strap the same width as the OWC centre links ?
If they are in thinking of removing the SEL of the sub bracelet so I can still use the OWC end links with the sub bracelet.
Of course if the centre links are different widths this ain't gonna work !
