Background

Swiss Watchmaking represents the highest form of refinement, with an incomparable know-how and pool of artisans at the service of quality and precision. Our starting point is the hard to solve equation to find Swiss watches with creative designs for a budget below $2000. Longines, Baume et Mercier, Frédérique Constant are strong brands in this range that we admire, yet those "historical" manufactures offer mainly very classic designs.

We set ourselves the goal to perpetuate this tradition in Geneva with a resolutely modern eye. Bringing our contemporary vision of design and distribution, KLYNT creates exceptional mechanical timepieces that remain accessible.

Far beyond the boundaries of classic watchmaking, the brands that inspired us the most are Armin Strom, Hautlence, Christophe Claret, for us models of technicity and creativity.

Why KLYNT? A reference to someone we admire, Hilma af Klint, pioneer of abstract art, who successively broke every rule of realistic painting to freely express her passion to create. This introduces the universe of KLYNT, all about creativity.

Specs

Let's dig into the watch itself:

Case: Stainless Steel, diameter 43,5mm, manly but not oversized, the right size to let the dial express its technicity. It features an astonishing combination Haute Horlogerie finishing techniques: polishing, circular and vertical brushing, sandblasted stamped lugs. Sapphire crystals, domed on the front with multi layer AR coating and flat for the back,. Water resistant 50m / 5 ATM. Every piece is numbered for this limited KS edition (500 pcs).

The Dial: Inspired by architecture, the dial reveals KLYNT's creativity at its paroxysm. With 3 layers, combining sandblasted brass, KLYNT honeycomb, rhodiumed filets, smoked plexiglass, 3D indices, and an amazing second ring, this dial presents an incredible deepness for the eye and creates beautiful light plays.

The Movement: a Swiss Sellita SW-290, very robust caliber used by Tag Heuer, Bulgari and Baume et Mercier. We selected this automatic movement for its reliability and original display of the seconds at 9 o'clock. We chose Sellita over ETA for their independence, an essential criterion for us to be able to source them on the long term with stable price.

The Hands: Skeleton Hours and minutes filled with Luminova, not to overload the dial. On the contrary the second disc, over a smoked plexiglass, contributes to the non-conformist design of the watch.

Bracelet: Hand Sewn calf leather, 22mm wide with quick release pins, mounted with a nice customized buckle and hot stamped with KLYNT signature pattern.

Assembly: the cherry on top. All our timepieces are assembled in the heart of Geneva, by an Haute Horlogerie artisan. He is also in charge of a meticulous quality control, to validate the proper working of all elements and water resistance. He will also be responsible for after sales servicing (should it happen!), as he understands perfectly our watches.

The Collection is made of 4 different color versions: Steel, Gold, Gold & Black and Full Black.

The collection starts USD 990 on Kicsktarter, an exceptional value for a fine timepiece that would retail 4 times that price in traditionnal distribution!

Let us know what you think about it, we appreciate your valuable feedback !

Don't hesitate to ask anything, we are /relatively/ open to all remarks & critics. We have plenty of photos, videos, just ask for it :-!

Thanks for your time reading us,

Bruno & Clément

I dig the design. The lugs are cool, and I like the industrial face that still manages to be readable. If it's really 43.5mm, that seems quite big. What's lug-to-lug? But it costs about $400 USD too much, at least for me.

Did you have permission to use Watchuseek's logo in your kickstarter page? I don't see any reviews on Watchuseek, so it seems a little disingenuous to include its logo under "what does the press think about Klynt". (I noticed there's no Worn & Wound review, even though you also include its logo. Would you do that with traditional media? "What does the press think" followed by logos of the New York Times, the BBC, the Wall Street Journal, and Bob's News Site, where only Bob's had anything about your brand? Seems fishy to me at best, and a trademark violation at worst.)

Well technically two members of the WUS community has given their opinions. One said killer design, one said not for him.

I enjoy the design and the watch looks like a decent quality build. I give it a thumbs UP!

Becareful Klynt people, the detractors might troll in and start asking even tho your watch dial says Swiss made but they will want a detailed break down of where each parts are made. Because you cannot fool the WIS here. LOL

Certain elements of it are nice, but for me, the "Klynt" nameplate looks out of place and kind of kills the face. Good luck with it though!
Same. Was interested but can't get past the nameplate visually.

I find the watch way too busy---hard to read at a glance. I would not buy your watch but I wish you the best of luck.

@ andrea__81: thank you :)

@ sarosto: Appreciate your feedback, thanks!

@Perdendosi: thanks for your detailed answer: It is really 43,5 mm but case construction makes it easy to wear as lug to lug is only 50mm.

Regarding the price, we are defitinitely in the upper range of watchmaking in crowdfunding, but we have until now never seen a Swiss watch with that movement ( other brands usually use Sellita entry range cousin SW200 or ETA 2824-2), this level of technicity or that finishing quality. It's always a matter of perspective, and the right price is the one that seller and buyer can agree on ;-)

Finally regarding the Press: all the sources mentioned in the press area already have either: published an article, talked about KLYNT on their website/ social media accounts or granted a sponsor access to KLYNT. You are absolutely right Worn&Wound did not publish yet an article on KLYNT, but they have our watch in the hands, the first KLYNT in the US b-)

@Shaggydog: ...

@ mf1tym: Appreciate the thumb up ! We are here to interact and everyone's free to give his opinion.

@longface: I could agree that some watch faces are more legible but it's still faster to have a look at your KLYNT than take out your phone from your pocket:-d

@city74: Ok thanks for your comment!

@JustMe74: Understand your comment, to match the creative concept it had to be original in the shape and location. It is participating to the balance of the dial with the date window and second ring. Thank you for your support!

@
Milehigh981: thank you for your comment ;-)

@nexty9 : what are the brands that you would consider for a similar value proposition (Creative design & Swiss ) ?

@Tarak Trisaltuol : thanks for your point of view!

@stillonthebeach : Yes definitely not a minimalist or classic watch, we believe there's already plenty of choice in that range :) Thank you

@
Tanjecterly : I have to disagree with that but thanks for the comment

Stunning watch. Swiss and beautiful. I think the design justifies the price and certify we know if brands that are 5-10X this price. If the quality control/movement/precision and internal craftsmanship is equal to the exterior design, it is well worth the price and you have a winner.

Thank you mjackson for your comment. Every step of the assembly and quality control happens in Geneva at our watchmaker's workshop, and he is a specialist of Haute Horlogerie. The movement is also used by IWC, Tag Heuer, Bulgari... and in our case is set by our watchmaker (on top of Sellita "Elaborate" factory setting) to guarantee the "Swiss" precision :)
