I finally put a battery in a Longines Conquest Perpetual VHP that has been sitting in a drawer for a few years while I was wearing a different one. I pressed the crown to position 0 to start the watch, and it did its thing of showing me the month and year it had last recorded, but then the date wheel wouldn't stop. It kept on going round and round. I let it go for several revolutions to see if it would sort itself out, but it didn't.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Does anyone know what causes it or how to fix it?

Never seen it. Doesn't sound good but are you sure you are doing it right? The initial leap-year/month/day setting of these is a pain... I always have to get out the instructions when I do it.
