Case restoration is nothing new obviously, but the laser welding is a powerful tool, and some people are doing remarkable things with it. It's nice that there is a way to restore cases that have been badly damaged or overpolished. I am currently experimenting with this for the first time on one of my watches. Of course, such restoration should be disclosed by a seller, which may or may not always happen. While originality is always prized the most, overall, I think that collectors tend to be more tolerant of case restoration than dial/hands refinishing.
