Purchase

This is one of the cheapest watches in my 24h collection - GBP 8.50, inclusive shipping. Bought in 2013 from one UK seller and I think I was the sole bidder. The added two pictures were vague but the description was promising: "This 24 hour watch is nearly new only worn a couple of times and only shows wear where the buckle has been done up."

There are not so many English watch brands today. Recently we had in Afka's Weekly Watch #2 RLT 62, very nice and solid affordable 24h quartz wristwatch. This time is here another Englishman from the lowest "super affordable" layer.

The Limit brand has an interesting past. The name was registered in 1912 but its origins go back to businesses established by the Hirst Brothers. They imported watches from Switzerland, selling them both retail and wholesale. Our reviewed watch was produced in the 90s is my guess and is of course sourced from Far East. After the case was opened it was clear that I have here another movement maker I haven't heard of before.

On the movement is stamped: "One (1) jewel, Hong Kong, unadjusted, Remex Electronics Ltd.". After some research I found the movement code too - 6641B.

Remex Electronics was a Hong Kong company, established in 1976, dissolved in 2000. Remex produced mechanical and mainly quartz movements, and also watches under the own brand.

This Limit is in a very good condition. No usage marks indeed. Even the case back was like it was never opened.

The look and feel of this watch is on about the same level as, let say, 60 EUR German Hummel watches. Here we have a date feature, what is missing on all the Ronda763.24-based watches. The dial is nicely designed and for sure somebody likes it that there is no "24" but "0" instead.

But still this watch is made as cheap as possible. The only way to set the date was to shovel back and forth between 20 and 0. The case back is absolutely plain, nothing said even on water resistance.

The gold plated case isn't hot today, no doubt. This watch looks more like a ladies watch to me. I mean here because of exterior, not the size. But have you heard on 24h ladies watches? Yes, I know that there are some special 24h ladies watches around (example Aristo), but they are rare. Have you ever saw a lady wearing 24h watch? No. I haven't seen even a man wearing 24h watch. But from the web I know they must exist somewhere.

Summary

Not bad, but not for me. On this price and complexity level gold colored watch seems inappropriate.
From the positive side - the loss was minimal. And it is always nice to spot some 24h model even not described in extremely valuable site 24hourwatch.info
