Hi Guys,

Just picked up this LIP watch on ebay- I love the watch, its absolutely beautiful, and was really pleased by it in person. It's in really pristine condition. The seller says its from around WW1 or WW2. Im basically just wondering if you think that's true, or if its real at all. I didnt pay too much, and I like it whether its fake or not, so Im not thinking of sending it back. Just wondering because I'm interested and for posterity's sake.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!

PS What straps do you think would be nice on this? Down to get funky

I'm no expert, but the dial printing looks way too sharp and unfaded to be 70+ years old. The hands also look repainted. It's a cool watch, if you like it and didn't pay too much then it's a big win!

I'm sure someone else can chime in regarding the watch itself.

Used to be a pocket watch.
No Shock protection.
Redialed, of course.
Value - determined buy what one person will let it go for and another is willing to pay - therefore it is worth what you paid. Exactly.
They can be fun to wear - but fragile.

I suspect this is a marriage watch, which is to say that it used to be a pocket watch, and the movement was recased in a wristwatch case, and a new dial printed to accommodate the new orientation of the dial.
