Hi there,

I like to present my beautiful Longines-Wittnauer Vintage, manufactured in 1959 for the US- Market. The Watch is Gold plated, with 10Mikron.

Longines is surely well known in this Forum. Anyway, here is a short Summary:

In 1832, Auguste Agassiz started a small Sales Office in Saint-Imier, Swiss with an enclosed Workshop. They were very succesful with their "St.Imier"- Style Pocket Watches. His Nephew Ernest Francillion took over 1854 and built up a new Factory that still exist today. The Location was called "the long Meadow": The Start of the Name: Longines.

Beside the manufacturing of wrist watches, Longines were involved in professional time measure on Sport Events as well as for time measuring on the famous Charles Lindberg Atlantic Discovery in 1927.

For conquering the US- Market, Longines started a Partnership with the Company Wittnauer. Often, Longines delivered the movements and Wittnauer built a Watch around it.

Today, Longines belongs to the Swatch- Group, together with the Movement- Manufacturer ETA and the Brands: Breguet, Omega, Blancpain, Leon Hatot, Jaquet Droz, Glashütte Original, Longines, Rado, Union Glashütte, Tissot, Calvin Klein, Hamilton, Mido, Certina, Balmain, Endura, FlikFlak und Swatch. … did i Forget anyone ?...

Please check Wikipedia for more Information.

Back to my watch, I love the guilloched Dial as well as the nice movement Cal 23Z.

This Watch is a child of its time with a Diameter of only 32mm without Crown. Almost feminin from today point of view, there is no doubt that this beautiful timepiece was made as a Gentlemans Watch.

Finally, here is the obligatory wristshot

Hello,
The 50's sure was a seminal decade for watch designs. Great looking Longines.
