Over the years I've collected a couple of G's. Been lurking for a month... And now I need a new G to add to my slowly growing collection. Looking for a square shaped and with solar power. I know the 5600 and the 5500 are square shaped but any other models I should be aware of? Also solar powered would be a major plus.

Don't need to read these, just some history of my G's:

First started out with something that looks like a DW6900, but not sure of the exact model. Used it for about 4 years, no idea where it went so dad bought me a frogman.

2nd is a Frogman DW9900-1D.Many years of wear and tear the bezel cracked and the bands are starting to rip. I can't find a replacement band to this because my dad bought it in Japan and I can't find a place online.

3rd is my DW9052. Perfect condition, my daily.

Other watches includes Casio WV-200A just HAD to buy it. 10 dollars at Khols after a bunch of discounts.

Seiko 5M42, hand me down from dad. Church/formal watch.

Whilst Mr Blaze has highlighted some square watches I think you need to start a square collection with a 5500 or a 5600. They are undeniably square and have so many colour permutations compared to the 7800, king and 056. If you want pictures I have a few....

I'd suggest either a 5000 or a 5600. Check number 2 to 6 in my signature below; 2 is a 5000 (it's stainless steel with nice coating, expensive but the nicest G-Shock made at the moment IMHO, for more details as to why it is expensive do a forum search on the number), 3 to 6 are 5600's currently available. These are solar atomics but they're also available in just solar. Clicking on one of the images will link you to details.

You can also find several of these in the sales forum; I saw a green 5600 there the other day, and I myself am still selling one of my 5000's there (am I allowed to mention that here..?)

Good luck!

Paul

Thank you on the fast responses. I tried the red gx-56 at the mall and it's too big :-( My wrist is 6.5in. The g-7800 looks like a good possibility, read a blog about it last night and the person also had 6.5in wrists. I'll also take a look at the sales forum.

I got the G-7800 and would be wearing it now if I hadn't just bought a Riseman :$

I need to stop now.
