Hi!

I want to buy a new watch for my friend who is in the military (he's also prior law enforcement) and getting ready to deploy, problem is he only wears watches with an "open cuff bracelet" basically it's a metal stiff bracelet that is open under his wrist. The logic is that if he becomes engaged in an altercation he cannot be pulled by his watch, basically it just peels away. I want to buy him a nice watch BUT I'm afraid I won't be able to find this type of "strap". Does anyone know what type of strap that is and where I can find one? Sorry I don't have a picture, Thanks!!!

I believe they're called OLONGAPO bracelet~They were widely used by various units stationed overseas and were custom made to order. You could also try googling to find a seller, cheers! ;-)

They are affordable enough that you might be able to use the band on another watch or just give it to him as a complete watch.

the Philippine guy who makes these modern olongapos size them to fit, he probably could make them open-ended... just a thought
