I'm looking for the right grandfather clock for a small, quiet sitting room just off of our forier. We designed the room to have some more elegant furniture, and a grandfather clock. After three years, I still haven't found the right one.

I'm looking for something fairly large/tall (7' or greater), with a legible dial (I don't much care for clocks that don't have good contrast between the hands and the dial), preferably one that can light up at night, and a good chime option. A chime silencer at night is strongly preferred. Moon phase feature would be nice. I guess I'm kind of looking for something that is a tad more toward the contemporary look than the antique look (to fit the design of the room).

It has been difficult to find a good online retailer that has lots of different selections. Anyone know of any good places to look, or any specific clocks that would meet the above description? Thanks in advance.

Regards,
-Jeff

Jeff, Why not try 1 of these links http://www.howardmiller.com/webapp/...toreId=12652&catalogId=13551&categoryId=36151

Here is another 1 http://www.theclockdepot.com/grandfather_clock_showroom.html

1 more than you can look around yourself. Been around Mechanical Clocks, especially Mechanical Cuckoo Clocks. I really dont like the fabricated sound of the quartz model. Can ever simulate the real thing. Here is the other link on the Mechanical Grandfather Clocks http://www.grandfatherclocks.com/

Got to go, It is time for Church again tonite.

Yes, thank you. I have seen the Howard Miller site before (they seem to be the primary maker of grandfather clocks in the industry), but had not seen the Clock Depot site before.

Now if I could just stop buying watches, I could probably pick up one of these beauties! Thanks again.
