Purchase

This watch came from a sunny Italy, described as gorgeous and very rare Lorenz/Edox "Stupendo e Rarissimo Lorenz Edox Con Quadrante 24 ore,Orologio Meccanico 60".

In 60s Lorenz as Edox distributor in Italy offered several Edox models under his own label. In 24hourwatches.info is the same model described as Edox. This watch looked nice, was in a good condition and it cost me EUR 200 (in 2012). The seller asked much more, but that was my best offer accepted.

Comments

The movement is widespread and signed AS ST 1802/03. Here we see that Edox as a decent watchmaker has decorated it and it looks very nice, much better than with some other watches. What I like very much is the double caseback. For a 50 year old watch this Lorenz is in a very good state. On a timing machine the daily beat error is +4 sec!

Crystal and case are excellent for this vintage watch. Only the stainless steel caseback has wearing marks.

The dial is also nice. And the legibility is excellent. Maybe you think that these paddle hands looks strange but for me they are very stylish. Definitely this watch reminds the time when Sean Connery was James Bond and all the girls had miniskirts.

From 24hourwatch.info we know, that several versions of this watch exists:

Summary

I like the happy character of this watch. My drawer is full of serious 24h watches who look like killing machine control tools. Here I have something for my summer holidays.
