I am following the Midjourney page closely on FB.
Some wonderful stuff I see people doing. (OK, a lot is also crap: same old tiresome Star Wars, Marvel, etc. )

I have not yet seen anyone use it for designing watches, which is a surprise, as the program would be excellent for that.
I myself intend to learn and use it very soon.
Has anyone here tried it?
When / If you do, post your designs here.

Here's a random example of what some people are producing, often with little or NO background in art or design.
Not a watch, but this gives you some idea of the level of detail, etc.

Tried to recreate my anordain. The results are... interesting 😁

Prompt:

An analog wristwatch with two hands, for the hours and minutes. The hands are skeletonised. The dial is green enamel with a soft lemon-peel like texture. The dial print is gold coloured. There are numerals at the even hours and rectangles at the odds.

friends of mine in the arts are basically apoplectic.

No, these ai models won't replace fine art terribly soon.

But most artists aren't making a living by producing fancy stuff for a museum. Most working artists design logos, letterhead, ad design, web graphics, etc. The unnoticed oxygen of design in our everyday lives. That stuff, apparently, is easily robotified. Fire up a hundred versions and at least a few will be good.

Nope, "creativity" is not a sanctuary for human labor.

The invention of film put untold portrait painters out of work. Such is the way of things.

That looks great. Really need to give Midjourney a go, DALL.E is not good enough
Yeah, my experience with Dall-E has pretty much been that unless you give it a very specific, paragraph long prompt for something it's good at, what you'll get back is something on the level of a kid drawing with crayons. Stable Diffusion was similarly unimpressive with a limited prompt, it basically gave me watercolor paintings of a watch.

Another stab with MJ, giving it a little more direction. This one's kinda awesome. It looks like MJ opted for a count down bezel rather than a dive timer which definitely isn't my preference, but I love that teal blue color with the heavy fauxtina and I'm guessing bronze or rose gold bezel.

The double batons at six and nine are a nice change from the usual bar markers, and the 12 o'clock marker almost looks like it has a little gold applied triangle on top of and in the center of the much larger printed lume triangle, which is really cool, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that.

The hour hand almost looks like a diamond shape, which is also really interesting, it reminds me of the chrono hand on the old Breitling Super Ocean chrono that the new SO is very loosely based on. That shape for the hour would be cool, especially combined with a thin sword minute hand that this sort of looks like it has.

If somebody made this watch I'd buy it. San Martin should start designing their original watches using MJ, this is certainly a lot more interesting than anything they've come up with on their own.

There is nothing more useful than to leave specific processes to computers, but when it's about creativity, that's when humans are the kings.
Indeed, (so far) it's only the human mind that can interpret and transform.

But what the AI assembles in mere minutes is a very helpful instigator / initiator of ideas.... much like random chords produced by a cat walking on the piano might be for a musician, or some urine stains on a wall is to a painter.

“You should look at certain walls stained with damp, or at stones of uneven color. If you have to invent some backgrounds you will be able to see in these the likeness of divine landscapes, adorned with mountains, ruins, rocks, woods, great plains, hills and valleys in great variety; and then again you will see there battles and strange figures in violent action, expressions of faces and clothes and an infinity of things which you will be able to reduce to their complete and proper forms. In such walls the same thing happens as in the sound of bells, in whose stroke you may find every named word which you can imagine.”

AI is notorious for having problem with human hands: it tends to draw more than 5 fingers per hand.

IDK why this is the case, but it seems AI is having probs with drawing all kinds of hands.
Why are all the hands bent? Weird.

Most of the MJ watches have melty Salvador Dali hands as well. That's just how they are with certain things, it doesn't understand that's not correct. Lots of Tudor Bronze Bay on this guy.
