Foreword

The only counterclockwise 24h watch I know. I bought it from Germany, EUR 30 incl shipping, NOS condition. Last week I saw another Modern Originals 24h sold in ebay. NOS condition. If you see ever another Modern Originals I bet it will be NOS. They all are NOS.

This watch is even described in 24hourwatch.info. The description is not correct. Nobody can believe, that small white window with rotating disc is not date, but minutes window. Very, very weird dial with counterclockwise hours, barely readable minutes like in jump hour watch and prominent blue seconds subdial.

I tried to find this mysterious brand Modern Originals without any success. And then by accident I found it. In 2002 and 2003 existed Modern Originals, a UK site offering different gadgets ("the catalogue of new ideas from around the world"), including some wristwatches.

This watch was offered for GBP 24.95 and described as:

Pre-release of a revolutionary new watch This new 24 Hour Watch will radically alter your concept of time. Forget the classic dial with its 12 hours and 2 hands! Incontestably logical since there are 24 hours in a day, this watch's graduated dial from 1- 24 has just a single hand! The two other dials are for the minutes and seconds. The only concession to tradition is its Citizen quartz movement for 24 hour accuracy. Leather strap, anti-corrosion stainless steel back. Once you've adapted to its unusual mechanics you'll never go back to a traditional 12 hour clock!

Indeed, inside is Citizen quartz movement. To be more precise - Myiota (part of Citizen) movement. On the movement is written "Myiota Co, Japan, unadjusted, no jewels". I can't say the exact movement number. It is for sure from 2030/2035 family (3 stands here for 3 hands, 202x is 2 hand movement). This family had even a rare counterclockwise model - 2037. I'm not sure is it used here. The hours hand's center is shifted from movement's center and you can do the counterclockwise trick with any movement.

The only legible part of dial is seconds subdial. Hours and minutes are hopeless. Useless watch.

Summary

As I said, all Modern Originals are NOS. Because no one will wear it. As a curiosity it can have a place in collection. That's all.
