When the Moonswatch came out I was not following the madness. I looked at it online and realized I could not order it and it has not crossed my mind since.
This week I was traveling through Switzerland, Geneva and Zurich airports. I walked past a Swatch shop in the evening at the Geneva airport so I popped in to look at the Moonswatch display (and yes I went and looked at all the other watch stores they have there). I asked the store clerk if they had any and she told me they were out, but sometimes have few in the morning.
The next morning I was flying very early from Zurich and as I am walking to my gate, there is another Swatch shop just opening. So I walked in and asked them if they had any Moonswatches. They had 4 different models (forgot to take a photo) so I picked up one (Mercury, no Moon or Earth available which would have been my choices). The guy wrapped the watch box in a nice gift box and I was on the way.
Last weekend was my son's birthday, which I missed because of this trip, and this will be his birthday present.

last week i was in Salzburg & found the full suite of 12 MoonSwatch displayed in the Swatch store in the Old Town section:

Automotive design Gas Gadget Metal Fashion accessory

also, this one apparently available only in Salzburg: --- it is NOT a MoonSwatch (just to be clear) but some special edition Swatch (??)

Last week someone at work asked me about watches for his son who is in high school, I gave some ideas in his price range, he seemed to lock on to a Moonswatch for his son right away. And a Seiko Cocktail time for himself.

First thing I did was take mine off stock. Stock strap has never been and never will be worn.

I wore a Fossil in high school. I still have it. I need to dig it out and take a picture. There is NO WAY a MoonSwatch would have survived me in high school.

Mercury is definitely my favorite though all have a fun vibe. Seems a great gift - congrats on the cool find.

I wouldn't own one myself, but they're perfect for a kid (to me that's anyone under about 25 anymore).

Yup - they'll always have all 12 on display. You can't buy the display watches.

And some cities do get special editions like that.

When I got mine (before I resold it) I had to get the extra long strap. The standard one won't fit an 8" wrist.

And you're absolutely right - the stock strap SUCKS. Just uncomfortable as hell.

I wore mine on the original strap for the first couple of weeks but it's now on a two part nylon. I have a leather as another option. The original was fine and in keeping with the watch, I swapped it out as I thought it would get dirty pretty quickly. It fits my 7.5" wrist with lots of spare so I'm surprised it felt too small on 8".

Unboxing update pictures. He liked it, we had a brief discussion about the strategy behind the Moonswatch and compared it to the real thing.
Sharing interest in watches made me happy, up to him what he does with it.
