I'm guessing that this would either a 5600 or a Mudman? A big factor in comfort for me is a watch that sticks to the wrist and doesn't try to move around - my Twisted Metal is great for this, but I'd like something lighter and on a strap for variety.

my vote would go for those same two, but i also find the g-7500 very comfortable to wear, stays on the same place as the others, no moving about. it's a bit thicker, but the case/band keeps it 'rounded'...

Not sure just what you mean by standard.

However, I think the answer is different for different people. Wrist shapes are different, and therefore, different watches fit differently. My GW-M5600s and GW-5600J, and GW-800D are all quite comfortable. My GW-9010 is my least comfortable.

5600 is the most comfortable, 6900 is up there for me as well in terms of comfort

Just wanted to add that my Silencer is extremely comfortable, too. Although many may not consider it to be a "standard" G-Shock.
