It's Friday once more and time for our unfailingly popular pre-weekend feature, 'Match the watch with the shoe.' This week we present the brand new limited edition Nike Lunar Force 1 World Basketball Festival shoe. It comes in an unusual basketball-textured brown leather colorway complemented with some nifty navy accents around the collar and heel. The sole is crisp white Lunarlon paired with an icy blue outsole.

Nike, together with USA Basketball, hosted the first Basketball Festival in 2010. This year's event is due to take place in Chicago later this month. The LF1 will be available at select Nike Sportswear retailers from August 14.

As for which watch to go with the shoe, well, we have managed to find some superlative pairings. For example, who'da thunk a basketball shoe could match so well with a $13,000+ Arnold & Son HMS1 with intricate Royal blue guilloche on the dial and 18k rose gold casing.

Then there's the ever reliable GP Sea Hawk with the black/orange bezel and matching hour and sub dial hands for some diving as well as jumping.

At over $32,000, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur with its tobacco coloured dial and 18k rose gold bezel has no business working so well with a basketball shoe, but on this occasion it actually does.

Just for good measure, the IWC Pilot's Chronograph Watch Antoine de Saint Exupery Edition released a couple of years ago should be more than enough to match the aerial aspirations of the basketball shoe.

And for those more casual occasions, the simplicity of the Fossil Aeroflite AM4554 at just $70.00 still looks the part. There are sure to be other equally alluring combinations. Any suggestions?
