Hi there
I have recently bought a MuDu watch which I am really pleased with but cannot find definitive information about. The brand seems to be surrounded by stories of illegal importation and sales in Britain in the late 50's early 60's and I have seen some information on this forum.
Looking at Dr Ranfft's pages the closest I can get to the movement is AS1130 or Zenith2572. There appears to be a star symbol in a cloud under the wheel. I wonder if anybody could identify the movement. Also the coat of arms/ crest on the reverse of the case?
Many thanks

Excellent information. Thanks very much.
Looking at the Venus movements, the jewel layout on my watch is the same as Venus 202 but without the Incabloc. The earlier movements, between 1945 and 1955 don't seem to have this incabloc system so perhaps mine is early 202.

I think it is great that there are people on the forum who have such brilliant knowledge.

Thanks again

You're very welcome. As regards age, the earliest recorded registration date for the MuDu brand (Swiss-made by Adolf Muller & Kurt Dubach) is 1957, so your watch will not be before then. One of my MuDus, also a 17j hand winder but with a Peseux movement, similarly has no shock protection, unusual for 1960s watches but which I think yours and mine both are.

Regards.

Here is a nioce link with some more info:

You should polish that crystal. It does not have to be replaced, as it is acrylic. Needs to be sanded with ultra-fine sandpaper, 1500 grid, than 2000 grid. It will go totally blind after that. Then apply Polywatch etc., and it will come back like new.

There are other methods, you just have to check through the forum threads or someone else will come along with another method.
