This was my dad’s Rolex Date he wore since the 1960s; he has since passed and now I am in possession of it.

Before he passed and about 20 years ago, I took it into Rolex boutique for service, but they never informed me that it wasn’t authentic after the service was done.

Based on the serial number, the watch was manufactured in 1966. But the Rolex “O” is rounder than what I assume it should be in other logos I’m comparing to online. Is this authentic, original dial, a variation, a redial or something else that you guys can tell me?

Much appreciation for any assistance.

No idea, not an expert. But if the RSC didn't tell you that the watch is fake, then the chance of it being authentic is high, yes? Either way, I suspect that you will keep it more for sentimental reasons.
