I'm new to collecting Gs so please bear with me..

I bought from eBay a DW5600EG-9 that came in the mail today. I bought it from this guy: eBay My World - jj_watches.

It came in what I believe is not a Gshock box (see pics below). I looked up the serial # on the bottom of the stand and that jenky women's black digital casio is what comes up.

I don't have a lot of experience w/ fakes, but the watch itself seems to be legit... although I can't push button A in all the way (to set the time) just using my finger... I have to get a pen.

My question is this:
As a general rule, should you always send the watch back if it doesn't arrive in the real box?

Also... what are these merchants doing with the real box? Like what is so important that they need the box to MY watch.

I'M SO PISSED! I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO MY NEW PRISTINE WATCH COMING IN THE MAIL! o|

Thanks for your advice.

I had the same problem with the same seller.

He sold me a BNIB G-Shock for $300 that had been discontinued for years. However, it wasn't truly "BNIB" condition because the battery had been replaced and he did not have the original box. "BNIB" is not the proper categorization in such circumstances. The watch was mint and authentic, but it was not BNIB.

He argued and argued so I opened a PayPal dispute, and I got a refund. It is the only PayPal dispute I have ever had, by the way.

Hi, DW5600G is very rare these days. No matter where you buy it from most likely you are not going to get a G-Shock box. I have used that seller many times. He/She is very dependable. All items are brand new, however, if it is a real old model than the battery might have been replaced once, which is also not unusual for out of production watches. If I were you I would inspect the DW5600G closely and if it looks mint then be happy with it and move on. In the end the choice is yours but out of production watches mostly are like that...

ok i didn't even know it was out of production. it is a DW-5600EG-9VQD --- that's what it says on the tag... I paid $43.99 for it

here's another question ... should button A (the adjust" button) on a 5600 like this be really hard to puch in? I know on all Gs the adjust button should be recessed to some degree... i have only had 6900s up to this point and they aren't this hard to press in...

does anyone know offhand if the adjust button on 5600s are harder to push in than on 6900s?

For the price you paid, I'd just keep it. At that price, I may just pick one up for myself.

Its pretty common to have mix ups on the boxes. I just got a G5600CC which is a brand new model and it arrived in a Mudman box.

The only packaging I would worry about is on the limited edition models.

And the older modules all have a short A button that don't require a hold down for 3 seconds to activate. Prevents accidental pressing.

Yes, it has been out of production for quite sometime. You can't even buy the bezel from Casio anymore. Yes, the adjust button is a little pain to push on all of these. I am used to using my index finger's nail to push it. Enjoy the watch, it is a keeper and before too long it would be completely sold out of market. So, great find and a sweet deal...

Kinda odd they had the manual and took the time to put it in the plastic bag but gave you a standard casio box.:think:I think they just did not feel like looking for the proper box.
Which is why I'd message him and let him know that you aren't happy with the packaging and are questioning the watch purchase and ask if he can send the original box and if so you'll keep it.

The poster believes it is not a G-Shock box, but it is. I've had several G-Shocks, especially from Asia, in those blue boxes. Perfectly genuine packaging for a standard G-Shock.
