My idiot coworker thinks he wears a "Bolivia" watch.

I work with a guy, he's not the best coworker.
But i was trying to be nice so I complimented his Skeleton dial, blue roman numberal indexed watch.
I asked him what it was
He said it's a Bolivia.... I think he meant Bulova
The thing is blingy....but then again maybe it came from grandpa's drawer in Bolivia.

You're crapping on him over "Bulova/Bolivia", yet you can't spell "skeleton"? Oy.....

Hah. Fixed that typo.
So you’re busting his chops about mispronouncing the name…just tell him how to pronounce it correctly. What worries me is your backstabbing demeanor. He’s not the best coworker, thing is blingy, but you “tried” to be nice and complimented it. If it was me, I’d rather have you say nothing than give me a fake a$$ compliment, then smear me on a watch site. You can do better.

It's not always easy to correct people - you don't know how they'll take it. I vaguely know a guy who's clearly an enthusiast (he had just got "the call" for a Daytona last time I saw him FFS), but he was talking about his JLC that was going in for repair - he pronounced it "Yaeger", but I wasn't going to be That "actually, it's pronounced jeh-jair" Guy. He's a good guy, loves his watches - who cares what he calls them?

Also true! Most of the folks I associate with are pretty thick skinned, so it’s more in line with saying… hey, you got some TP stuck to your shoe. No one gets offended as long as it’s done discretely. But I definitely see your point. JLC is a toughie…jeh-jair, zhe-zhe… even the le kuthrrr gives non French some grief. I just say JLC so I don’t sound like a tool 😂.

My boss says "space" when he means to say "spec" as short for specification.
He got it from his dad who's saying it wrong as well.

I think I'll start a thread about it.

Don’t need to know your co-worker is an idiot, don‘t need to know he‘s not the best coworker.

It's a pretty cool watch. I have couple "Bolivias" myself. Wearing one today actually. Why bother to give a B.S. complement at all if you don't like it?

While you're at it, ask him if he bought it here...

My FIL is notorious for mispronouncing things. He calls gnocchi… ganushi. I love it.

Since it is his watch, he can call it whatever he wants?

If at least they should put a Miyota 9000 series in this watch, question of showing a decent movement...

Never understand posts like this. The person isn’t a good coworker according to you, doesn’t pronounce something correctly and wears a blingy watch. You post it on a public forum for what purpose? I’d recommend a book called ‘The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F**K’.
