This is a very special watch in my opinion, and I'm delighted and lucky to own it. The general consensus (on forums!) seems to be that it's overpriced, but I wanted a gold dress watch, 38-40mm, simple and elegant but also a bit more interesting than the standard Calatrava look, and honestly think this piece represents decent value compared to the competition (even at retail price, and I paid nowhere near that!). I'm also a huge Nomos fan, so the chance to own their flagship watch means a lot to me. In person it's a stunning piece in my opinion, understated yet special (and rare - I'm pretty certain I'll never see another one!). The finishing quality is fantastic too, and I enjoy looking at the front and back of the watch equally!

Awestruck! Beautifully taken close-ups, I might add. I hope to learn the technique soon enough.

If I may ask, when you mention a "calatrava" style, is it accurate to say that it's defining characteristics are the design of the case, lugs, and minimalistic dial features? And did that style originate with Patel?

Fantastic! I am so pleased Nomos decided to release the Lambda in a more manageable size - and I actually prefer the proportions of everything on the dial. Enjoy it (as if I had to tell you)!

I was in Miami with my wife last week. 80 degrees F. We had some time to use up before our flight back to frigid Boston. We visited the ALS Boutique at the Miami Design Center. I very nearly, well sorta, left with a Saxonia. I did leave with a lovely ALS catalog.

After seeing your post I've decided to purchase the watch I tried on a year ago at the Nomos Shop in Glashutte.

I haven't told my wife yet..

But at least I'll have a beautiful watch.

Great, please post the story and pictures if/when you go ahead with it. There's almost zero information about this watch online apart from the rather lightweight press reviews when it was released. I've only found one other person whose bought one actually. Which model will you go for exactly?

I was also looking at the Saxonia by the way, a beautiful watch no doubt, but I'd have ended up paying almost double what I paid for the Lambda, even for the newer, smaller, cheaper Thin, and I honestly preferred the Lambda regardless as something a bit more interesting. I plan to scratch my Lange itch as a 50th birthday gift to myself also, and it will be something a bit more complicated!

It's an amazing watch, congrats. I love the design, the simplified elegance. I'm not a "gold watch" guy, but would definitely be interested in this version if I could find it at a nice discount... Stunning.

This is a lovely version also - I have the Ahoi Atlantik which is a similar colour scheme, and I was looking for a rose gold watch for formal occasions this time (not that the white gold couldn't do that as well of course). As far as getting a good price on it is concerned, I can recommend MyChrono in Germany, and think they have this model in stock at the moment (at least according to their website).
