hey guys, i'm a newbie. just got a new Seiko SNZG15J1 Auto 5. I was excited and just went ahead and set the day / date without reading the instructions. when i got up today and put the watch on i noticed the day / date never changed so i looked the manual up online. it was about 8:30 this morning which was really 8:30 PM (or so my watch thought). I went ahead and wound the hands around and the day / date flipped over at 12 and i set it to 8:30 AM. Then i saw that you are not supposed to change the day / date from 9 PM - 4 AM. Since i wound the hands through those times will that mess anything up? The time was only 8:30 PM when i made the change but i manually wound from 8:30 PM to 8:30 AM. Does my question make sense?

I have read / researched this and cannot find an answer anywhere.

Nice site BTW.

You're fine. The instruction to not change the day/date between 9 and 4 applies to changing it by clicking through the day and date stops with the crown. By turning the hands through the hours you are allowing the day and date to change over naturally.

Oh yes. Welcome to the forum!
