Hi Everyone,

Need some fresh opinions, I figured the Public Forum would be a good place.

For a couple of months I've been trying to get a racing themed watch and I've decided to get my first Omega. My first purchase didn't turn out as I hoped and last week I've returned the watch for a full refund. Long story short, I think my next purchase will be at my local AD, and I've narrowed down to the following two choices since they have both of them new.

Please disregard the bracelet and the rubber strap for the moment, since I'll most likely be getting a few more straps in the future.

I like both for various reasons, and I'm having a hard time convincing myself to get one over the other. So any opinions and reasons will be greatly appreciated.

I prefer the "exotic" dialed Schumacher. It also doesn't hurt that Michael was one of my top three favorite F1 drivers. BTW I assume you know he cameout of his coma last week.

i have this one from 2002 because it came cheap off a friend who needed a new recon engine more than his watch !! i'm not really a fan of LE's and i don't wear it very much compared to my other watches . You should know that the Schumachers tend not to retain value and have a somewhat specialised clientele - if you are fine with that and a schuee devotee fine also _GJP0127 copy.jpg wears smaller than it looks imo

Really? I thought he was still in it. Hope he fully recovers. I like the racing omega more. But they are both nice.

Reported on the 16th that he had left the hospital and out of the coma.

Regarding the Shumy Speedys, you do have a smaller market for them since there are a significant number of people that would not wear something with his name on it, just as I wouldn't wear a LE watch with Senna, Hill, Hunt, Montoya or Hamilton (Lewis not the company) ties.

Schumi is actually my favorite F1 driver, I've been a big fan of his since the beginning of his Benetton days. I still remember back in the days I used to draw those Benetton logos and stripes all over my school books. :-d

Yeah, I'm glad he had finally come out of the coma. I know there is still a long fight ahead of him, but I wish him the best and hopefully he'll have a good recovery.

Racing is a little more sporty and "fun" than the other, both are good but just believe the racing has the new movement and the other doesn't , correct me if I'm wrong

I like the dial of your LE. :-!

I don't think you're wrong about wearing smaller than it looks. Your LE is 39mm, and the Racing is similar at 40mm. I find it's because of the slanted bezel. This is pretty much the only thing I don't really like about the Racing. I wonder if a flat bezel from another 40mm Speedy will fit on the Racing.

You have a good point about the market, but I noticed the Racing doesn't have a very big market as well.

I'd wear a LE Senna, but not the others that you named. :-d

Yeah, the Racing has the newer 3330 Co-Axial movement with a 4 year warranty, while the Schumacher has the 3301 movement with a 2 year warranty. The 3330 is based on the Valjoux 7753, and the 3301 is based on the Piguet 1285. I'm okay with either of the movements, both have their goods and bads.

Awesome!! I was born same year Senna died but would have loved to watch him race. I agree though, it is for a smaller market.

You need to watch the Senna movie. When it comes to driving and determination, he was really special. I couldn't believe it when I was watching the Imola '94 race.

One of my favorite Senna quotes.

"On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high." - Ayrton Senna

Nice blue dial and bezel, something different than most Speedies. For the Day Date, there was actually a Schumacher edition that I like a lot, but I wish these were made a little bigger though.

Thanks for posting this. It is a little too busy for my tastes and the numbers all seem too big.......

I wouldn't wear an LE Senna because the only ones I know of are the TAG Links (not a fan) or a Hublot Big Bang (REALLY not a fan). I'd consider a Montoya watch depending on what it looked like, but you must PAY me to wear a Louis Hampster LE...

As for my pick, you guys already know my opinion. I am wondering why that color scheme for the Racings? The Schumacher in your case only has one choice. The Racings have all of them. What brought you to this one?

The Legend looks better in person than online but the racing is still BETTER looking and has a better engine. A while back the earlier versions with the red, blue, or yellow dials were going fairly cheap. They were only Speedmaster Automatics - which helped keep the price down - but I think the colors put people off. They've grown on me over the years though.

Sorry for the purloined pics.
