I wanted to share pictures of my newest edition, a Laco Cuxhaven. I actually discovered this watch at Wind-Up Watch fair in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago. It caught my eye immediately, it was one of the first watches I saw and one of a couple I could actually see at home in my collection (the other that’s hit on my list is an anOrdain)

Anyway, as I often do with watches I like I set an eBay reminder and as luck would have it, I got a hit in about a week with a BNIB Cuxhaven for an irresistible price. Temptation got the best of me, and I got the watch Wednesday.

My initial impressions are that this is a great watch. It’s my first Laco, (actually it’s a lot of firsts for me, first German piece, First Navy style), and I’m impressed so far. The dial is simple and beautiful (they call it “enamel optic”), and the finishing on the movement is impressive for a watch in this price range. The watch is 42.5mm, I wish it was a bit smaller but my understanding is the size is necessary to house the so called “tractor movement” ETA 6498.1 Elaboré. This is my first true non hacking movement (my other hand winder, a Speedy, can be hacked by slight reverse pressure on the crown) so that’s taking a bit of getting used to, but the watch appears to be keeping excellent time, within +/- 1-2 seconds/day! He band is soft and supple, and for once I’m not on the last hole or two with my 7.75” wrist!

So without further ado, here are some pictures!

Here’s me trying it on at Wind Up
