Hi, guys have just seen this new version G shock, and I'm kinda interested in it as a casual watch! So what do you think? View attachment 15649236
This is one of a pair of the new Chinese New Year watches that have been released over the last few years.

These are Year of the Ox. G-Central Link & pics:

Casio America listed the G-Shock GM5600CX-4 and GM6900CX-4 Chinese New Year 2021 Editions at Casio.com and Gshock.com. This was unexpected, as it is the first time a Chinese New Year series is being released in the U.S. This 2021 series, also known as the Year of the Ox Zodiac editions, was first released in China and Singapore.

The GM5600CX-4 has a retail price of $240 and the GM6900CX-4 has a retail price of $260. These models have a stainless steel bezel with a gold ion plating, along with gold IP buttons, buckle, stainless steel band keeper, and case back. The case back has a special Year of the Ox design by Chinese artist Shan Jiang. The GM5600CX-4 has a matte red band with a brushed surface treatment for the bezel and keeper, and the GM6900CX-4 has a glossy red band.

The watches are currently available for purchase at Gshock.com. Like the recent U.S. release of the Japanese Daruma Series (which recently sold out), this series will probably be available exclusively at Gshock.com and in limited quantities

I had no idea there was a 6900 version and looks ok! I want something different from my usual tactical look for the weekend! You know chilling at a pub near the beach having a beer. Is that this watch? lol

I reckon. I've got a GM-6900, the one with the red faceplate and neg display, but with a lovely deep grey steel bezel and translucent red strap. The face look great on these I think.

I nearly bought this watch a few weeks ago! Love the dark grey metal bezel! How's it look in person?

Absolutely fantastic to be honest. None of the stock photos do it justice at all!!

I quite like it! I can definitely see myself grabbing a GM5600 at some point. Unfortunately they made the one normal looking positive display release GM-5600RI20-1JR RYO ISHIKAWA a collab edition and there for twice the price

I tried on the GM-5600 and I just wasn't a fan. I have the camo version and the strap is pretty terrible for the price in my opinion, but I love the buttons and of course look. For loud and fun, nothing beats a plain old resin square in my opinion. I bought both the new Daruma doll inspired dw-5600 resin square and resin dw-6900. I think the design is cooler and works better, especially on the 6900 (also reasonably priced). I'd suggest checking them out if you want something with a bit of interesting cultural significance behind it and just plain fun and cool looking on top of it.

IKR its so annoying when the price shoots up just because some celeb wears the watch!

Yeah, and I'd bet that the "celeb" is no-one known outside of the specialist circles they float around in, so absolutely no point the likes of me wearing one when I've never heard of the person. It wouldn't have any meaning to me personally.

Although saying that I do have the DW-5600 Bamford and I'd never heard of him!
