New Junkers chronograph: help!

First post, so any help finding answers is appreciated. Searched forums but didn't see an answer: Just received a new Junkers 150 Years model 6614-2 chrono for my 50th birthday today!

Question is regarding the chrono function. There is a button to start, and one to stop and reset, very simple. But the chrono does not start! The watch is wound all the way to the stop, and it is keeping time. But for the life of me I can't get the chrono to operate. What am I missing?? Is it defective?

Thanks much for any help.

Hello Ron,

Welcome to watchuseek and the German watch forum.

Does your new watch look like this? It looks good.

The button at "2" starts and stops and restarts the chronograph. After you have
stopped it, then the button at "4" can be used to reset the chronograph hands.
Normally, it takes a strong push to start the chronograph. Does the button cause
a click and bottom at the case?

One our sponsors Long Island watches sells Junkers, but I don't see this model on
their web site. I guess it might have come from WatchMann, another dealer.
If you can't get the chronograph started call WatchMann and talk to him about it.

When you get this straightened out you might come back and post some photos
of your new watch.

Thanks,

This doesn't address the issue in the original post, but some may wonder about
the movement with that sub-dial configuration. This Junkers watch uses the
Poljot 3133 hand wind chronograph movement. Member Lysanderxiii disassembled
a 3133 movement and compared it to a Valjoux 7734 in a well illustrated post,
which you can find here. It is worth taking a look.

This movement looks like an elaborate version with blue screws and
some polished pieces.

The buttons on a 3133 require a firm and deliberate press. Your watch might be faulty, but make sure you're pressing hard enough. There should be a very positive 'click'.

It works after all! All it required was a good push past the point were it initially stops. I called Greg at Watchmann where the watch was purchased, and he was very helpful and assured me that the watch was working properly before it was sent out. Indeed he was right.

Yes my watch is just like the one in the picture about. I'll try to post some images soon. It is a very nice looking watch!

Thanks everyone for your help.
