What do we think of this new upcoming piece from Lorier? The Astra...

Handsome little watch. I have a Smiths Trans-global, which is a bit bigger at 38mm and doesn't have lume. I think the lume ring is a pretty clever thing. Of the Astras I think I like the dark dial better. Would prefer sapphire, but I am aware acrylic is kind of Lorier's thing.

The blue dial is more interesting the white is boring to my eye, plus at that case size it’s too small for me.

Im sure they will appeal to many in the market for smaller cases.

Looks like they put some relatively long lugs on it. Same lug-to-lug as an OP 39, and 1mm longer than some 38mm Seiko presages. It'll wear a little bigger than a more modestly proportioned 36mm case, and be just perfect for people who are talking about how much they love "small watches" but don't want to wear something that actually looks dinky on the wrist.

They switched cases to reduce the lug to lug. It’s now down to 44mm. I think it had to do with how the bracelet wore on wrists with the older cases.

That's impressive.

And I couldn't read the dial text. The image you posted is an image for ants.
Here’s a larger image from the Lorier website.

Honestly, any time anyone uses "we" in this sense, I can only think of lying in the hospital after surgery and the nurse asked me "have we vacated our bowels yet?" :p

I don't know what you think about, but I guess the blue one is decent.

It's a cool looking watch, and the Polerouter influence isn't something you typically see often, I don't think. But it's leaving me wishing that it leaned more Datejust. I can't help picturing it without the crosshair and concentric circles. The applied indices, handset, and 6 o'clock date window I like a lot, and would really make for a compelling GADA case in either white or black. You'd have to lume the indices of course, but it would be a really handsome setup in what to me is a perfect size. As it stands, it's a smidge too busy such that I'd fear you'd get tired of it after a while.

I generally like Lorier's designs, but this doesn't work for me. I like that the took design cues from the Polerouter, but overall this doesn't work for me. The date window is a miss.

I like the style, not necessarily the exact watch.
Better examples, of course higher price tags:

For this type of watch, it needs to be with refined details, otherwise it would look cheap.
I don't think the Zenith really has the look the Astra is going for. The DeVille is closer, but I'm not sure how I feel about the lugs, they look bolted-on.

I dig it but 36mm is just a tad too small for me. I’d consider it at 38mm.
Not the biggest fan of the bracelet and would’ve preferred an oyster or jubilee. This one’s an awkward halfway house between the two, at least to my eye.

Maybe these pics are a little better? The more I look, the more I like. I enjoy crosshair and sector dials. I appreciate the midcentury Astra script, the applied markers and the hand design - very cohesive. Looks like something Don Draper might’ve worn on the weekend while getting drunk on Cutty Sark and cheating on his wife.

Sadly, still a little small for me.
