I believe the PRW-30 has a standard strap attachment, not a proprietary one like the PRW-3000/3100, PRW-6000/6100 and others. This is a plus for me. I never liked the fit of the strap on my PRW-S6000, and using the Pro Trek adapters isn't ideal either. With a standard strap attachment you have much more choice in replacement straps.

Unfortunately, according to the G-Central article the PRW-30 has a 23mm lug width. I prefer 22mm or 24mm because there are many more strap choices. At least Barton makes some decent 23mm canvas and silicone 2-piece straps. The adapters on my PRW-S6000 are designed for 23mm straps as well (1-piece only).

According to G-Central, the PRW-30 is a bit smaller than the PRW-3000.

Another new Pro Trek series revealed by Casio, the PRW-30 is expected to be launched this summer. This digital climbing model is notable for its smaller size (51.6 x 45.2 x 12.3 millimeters) and light weight (66 grams). (In comparison, the PRW-3000 measure 56 x 47 x 12.3 mm.)

Starting to look like the offspring of a prw 600 and the prg 330. I have been on the edge of getting either the prw3100 or the prg330 (really like that digital display) but now I'm just gonna sit and wait for the release. I think I may have found my forever watch 💓💓

Love the look of these watches... and drew me to my first Pro Trek. LOVE this watch!

Definitely smaller and lighter.

Of course I like the special version best, the PRW-30AE.

Of course I think I've found my One True Watch in the GBX-100.

Until they come out with something comparably sized and specced with solar/barometer/altimeter.

Otherwise I'll be down to being a 3 watch guy.

I definitely do NOT like the PRW-30 design. It looks ugly. I'm so glad that I own the nicer looking PRW-3500T-1. The PRW-3500T-1 has a better looking case, a "real" stainless steel rotating bezel that has utility and 200 meters water resistance. It looks much more heavy duty than the PRW-30. The PRW-30 is boring looking and looks like all the other ABC competitor watches that are out there. However, the PRW-3500T-1 has a unique design to it that no other watch company has copied on to their watches. Just look at how tough looking and eye catching it is.

To take a direction reading, place the watch in a horizontal position relative to the horizon. Point the 12 o'clock position of the watch in the direction you want to measure. Enter the compass mode. Here's an example of the read out, taken from the module 3490 manual:

I would recommend the manual for the procedure for compass calibration, adjusting for declination, recording directional readings, and other information regarding directional readings.
