New to G-shock... Just ordered (5 min ago) an MTG920DA-1 for $85. Seemed like a too good price to pass up for entry into the G-Shock club. :-! And the Atomic & Solar features clinched the deal. ;-)

Also, what's the advantage of a model like the GW810BXD-1 that is listed as being "multi-band"?

Multiband refers to the atomic radio freq's you can pick up. Likely you can pick up sync signals in Japan and in the US. Kind of like GSM cell phone networks, US uses 850 MHz, and Asia uses 1800 MHz.

functionality-wise MTG910, 920, GW500, 530 are all the same, you can pretty much just go by looks

the 5 band waveceptor can receive signal from Japan, US and Europe (UK and germany?), thats pretty much covers (all?) signals

MTG920DA is a good deal to have
