Just wanted to stop and say hello, I’m new here just started my collection just picked up my 3rd watch so I’m a noob compare to most of you on this forum. Just a quick question, I just purchased a Sicuro upright watch case and I added a 20w halogen picture light to it my question is if I have the light directly on the watches for about 5-6 hrs a day will it affect the watches at all. I don’t think it will due to when you perches the watches there are lights on them all the time in show cases one of my watches is a Eco-Drive that is my main concern so I wanted to ask all the experts.
Thanks

Welcome forum,
you have plenty of space rest!!! Lot of work to do ;-)

I don't think electric light can cause dial color to fade or lume to worn out. Direct sun light would be another story.

Cheers

Any kind of irradiation will cause effects in the material, some parts of the spectrum are more aggressive than others, but there is nothing especially damaging in the sunlight, except that it is more powerful than usual lighting. If a material will react to light at all, it will probably be the ultraviolet part of it, which is present both in sunlight and halogen lighting, however I believe most halogen lamps have some sort of protection against that (UV shields and such). Unless you use too powerful a light, I don't think you should worry about that.
Eco-Drive watches have a built-in safety to prevent overcharging.
Thanks for the response, I will check if the bulb has a UV filter on it if not I will put a lower watt bulb in the fixture

PS - That's a really cool idea. Thanks for sharing and enjoy filling the blank spaces.:-!
Well just checked out the bulb no uv filter so im looking at ordering a LED replacement bulb. The next watch I’m looking at is a Bulova Accutron Kirkwood 63A001 thanks for the help:thanks
On a related note- where did you pick up that display case? It's pretty cool. I don't know that I trust my handywork enough (sad, I know) to have all my watches hanging on the wall rather than safely parked on a dresser-top box, but I have been debating setting up a display case like this.

Either way, enjoy and I am sure all those slots will be filled up before you know it! :-d

I checked online and the only place that has it seems to be ShopNBC.

Mike
That is correct, I picked it up at shopNBC the link is below. It's a sturdy unit the only complaint I have is that the pillows are kind of small. Other then that the way I figured it, why collect them if you cant show them off. And some of the craftsmanship I seen on some watches are outstanding that's why I added a light so I'm all set.

Very cool- thanks for the link. I think once we stop being frequently-moving apartment dwellers and move into a house, that will be the first thing that gets mounted on the wall :-!
